Devotion Help: Abomination or Dying God, Worth It?

Hi folks, I am running a 2H chaos rifleman with all three pieces of Harbinger Set. I am already converting MORE THAN 55% of my damage into chaos damage via Harbinger of Eternal Suffering w/ Void-touched ammo and Consecrated Blade modifier.

Abomination and Dying God both requires substantial amount of investment in affinities, esp. some that are only remotely helpful to my build.

I wonder if it is worth investing a few points into either one or just leave my build with FIEND + Solael’s Witchblade passives for chaos damage buff.

If I went with the latter, I would have about 7-8 points remaining for HP nodes/resistance nodes.

Thoughts?

Anyone think the two top tier Constellations are any good?

I used Dying God on a BWC Pyromancer with blood orb of Cthon. It is excellent but you need at least 300 hp/sec regeneration to support the proc. 400/sec is more comfortable. The blue and red affinity devotions on the way offer some nice defensive stats too.

Something like that doesn’t look too glassy to me:

Edit says you could also cut solemn watcher and get a bit more offense instead.

I’m not sure about abom. I was a bit disappointed by Tainted Eruption on my DEE warlock, but that says nothing about the chaosbuff.

hungering void is very stronk.

abomination good also but more so on DW’ers. for 2h , stack with hungering void probably. neg regen is easily offset with LS and what not.

I doubt you can have both - too much points are required.
Abomination rocks for DW builds, that can utilize chaos damage (otherwise, too much points is wasted for affinity). Also for 100% physical-2-chaos conversion builds.

i meant stIck with hungering void oops

I think I will go with Abomination.

It has 20% acid/poison resistance and 300 HP boost, which is nice.

Which skill do you recommend I attach the proc from Abomination to?

I think I’ll attach Abominable Might to my Doom Bolt so it’ll trigger after I kill a grunt with it.

If you wont kill anyone, be ready to face 8 sec cd :). Doom Bolt is great to trigger something with high CD and low proc chance (it will raise proc chance to 100%). Abominable Might has 100% proc chance anyway.

I know that it does work that way, but do we know why? Is this mechanic documented anywhere?

Read 1.0.0.3 patch notes.

In short - abilities with cooldown get a bonus to contellation proc rate. The higher cooldown, the higher is the bonus.
It was made to compensate for their infrequent usage.

Why not attach it to your LMB attack, or don’t you melee?

I have it on shadow strike which generally kills so will proc the skill

Actually you can get both. Just have to give up a lot other things…

Yeah, A LOT. In fact, if you want to get Giant’s Blood and both Abom Might and Hung Void, you have to give up on Eldritch Fire.

Well maybe about 5 and a half seconds now the cooldown was buffed. I don’t actually find there are that many devotion procs that Doombolt is good for, especially in a typical build. I think the bigger problem with doombolt and abominable might is that it doesn’t guarantee a kill. I’m trying out a pyromancer at the moment that will put Abominable might on Grenado (to help convert a chunk of that physical into chaos). It deals heavy damage but is frequent enough that when it doesn’t kill you get another go pretty quickly.
