Devotion: Whirlpool vs Meteor Shower, go!

Basically… i will be having equal cold and fire modifiers so lets not depend on that. But i sadly cannot decide which of the 2 to go for (there are some skills in between that differ between the two but those kinda neutralise eachother out)
So…

Whirlpool or Meteor shower.

So far as far as ive theorised…

Meteor shower has the lower damage but does damage each meteor meaning it can rampage alot more over a bigger area, while Whirlpool only deals each second in a smaller area. Whirlpool however can hit all enemies nearby while if enemies ae bunched up, Meteor Shower can miss.
Now these are only looking at how the skill works and the default numbers ive seen.
However surely there are some experienced players who have had their favorites for a while and call tell me exactly why their favorite is the best choice… or wether there is a trick/something else that makes 1 better than the other.

(and no, i will not take “meteor shower looks better” as an answer… i would probably reply with something regarding the fact that it clutters up the screen and blocks everything with fx XD)

Not one person has some experience with these 2 devotions? Aw

Most of the time more then 1 meteor hits a target so it does more damage

only 1 meteor shower can go on at a time
whirlpool can be stacked.

meteorshower does more dmg per cast for the most part
whirlpool also slows and is pretty much one dmg type so easier to gear for.

neither is good enough to completely base build on it, they are more supplemental dmg.

Neither of them is good. They require way too many devotion points in useless things to justify themselves, and neither of them does more damage than Fiend or Eye of the guardian, which you can get in act 1 normal.

whirlpool line gives a ton of good stuff now.
like 100% dmg per point
its reasonable to just drop a point on it since u are already there for the other stuff

Ah yeah, with cold/fire eye isnt really an option. I do have Fiend however even when going for Whirlpool so thats nice ;D

Hmm… ok, thanks alot for the replies… i think ive found my optimal devotion build now… it has the correct elements, weaponbuffs and defensive… and managed to find a good combo between fire and cold while still being able to get…random drum sounds whirlpool.

Figured seeing as i am a meleerange character with a slight lack of 3+ target skills that having an waterpool around me slowing enemies while dealing dmg to enemies clumped up in front of me would probably be not a bad idea at all to support my main dmg.

Thanks for the input guys… think ill save Meteor Storm for perhaps a firetank ill eventually make.
