This is great news: Welcome to the team!
Welcome aboard! You’re like a new ingredient to an already working recipe!
I bought the steam early access. Was on discount. Suddenly popped up, and I’m glad it did.
What I meant is that maybe in the dev diaries they already do, they could also do a special feature on a certain artist and some of his awesome contributions to the game, or a certain dungeon or monster designer where he shows and writes about why he did stuff the way he did, etc.
It would be much more fun (to me) than the slightly impersonal way of “this is a monster you’ll see in the game. isn’t it great?”
I know I’m late to the party, but I still had to harp in and say welcome Eric, and hope you can bring some more great things to Grim Dawn.
Welcome aboard Eric/Hyboreal! So very glad to have you here.I look forward to your upcoming work, which I have faith will be at least as awesome as that from D1 and D2 and BL2!
add secret cow level plz eric!
Grim Dawn style
There is one.
I was hoping for a secret penguin level.
Please keep that in mind for GD2
and I loved Diablo 1&2, I am happy to see the old school creativity and passion instead of the corporate greed. I will support GD for as long as its around. BEST $25.00 i ever spent on a game! Thanks Crate for making it:p
Secret penguin level GD style? Reminds me of Lovecraft’s Mountains of Madness…
Sounds great! I’d love to see what he brings to the game in the future.
Between Grim Dawn and Path of Exile, I’ve almost forgotten about the atrocity that is Diablo 3 - a truly diabolic waste of time.
For a small development team, Crate really did a great job on Grim Dawn. Better than I expected. Hopefully we’ll see a series of expansion packs in the future for the game. Of which I’d be glad to pay for.
You can already see what he’s contributed as it is in Act 4 - Fort Ikon and more. This thread is over a year old.
I believe he also did a lot of the more recent additions/redesigns (the signs and updated looks of buildings and sprucing up some of the caves too for example) of early A1 areas as well and I’m sure elsewhere on the game.

Eric has done a lot of the Act 4 level work but all the art and re-decoration mention above, the new cave art, signs, building updates, is the work of Scott Duquette, who joined the team last July, almost a year ago now! Eric mostly works on writing lore and building the levels, which typically means forming the terrain and placing existing pieces of art. Scott, as an artist, helps create the 3d models and textures that get put into the world.
Ah my bad. You’re correct, guess I got em mixed up.

Is there any chance that the concept artworks for the characters, especially the monsters can be shared by Crate here on this site or elsewhere?
I bet there is a lot of cool stuff to see.
Not necessarily conceptual artwork, but a lot of the artwork can be found in the Development Updates part of the forum.
Will there eventually be a book of lore you can buy?
Awesome mate when i get mine working i will have to check it out
Late to the party, but welcome aboard, Eric.
I’m enjoying so far Grim Dawn, the spiritual heir of Diablo. Used to enjoy Diablo I and II a lot, because of its lore. Now I’m really interested of Grim Dawn’s lore.
