Greetings from the Doom Marine! I am wondering if it’s possible to mod the camera angles to be as close or identical to the camera from diablo 2 or diablo 3? For some reason among all isometric games camera angle from diablo 2 or 3 seems the most natural to me and causes the least amount of confusion when playing…
I am also not sure if this is the right thread to ask for this… But if some moder reads this and can do it please do it i’m sure some portion of the community will use it as well!
Yeah, ingame camera is adjustable:
It can be changed in “gameengine.dbr” located in database/records/game folder
Credit goes to Kathanious for this tip.
PS: should be moved to “Modding - Tutorials and Help” or “Modding - Discussion” thread
Cheers, thanks for the tip! I always find it annoying when there are dungeons where you have to walk south very often. I like seeing my character from a bit closer, but this way I cannot see the mobs until I literally walk into them haha.
Hmmm by setting 51.1 itcs exactly as d2 cam angle? And if i rltype tjis in ini it wonct reset?
You can change a camera angle easily using the AssetManager. And it’s also possible to use a favorite settings for vanilla.
What is necessary is just to try on various angles for yourself.
So basically you don’t know the correct settings to hit it at exact angle as in diablo 3 or diablo 2?
I’ve tried to load ‘gamesettings.dbr’ into the asset manager, but got an error message. How would i go about trying to adjust the camera angle?
I’m not sure how valid this is for GD. It seems designed for a moving camera, in that there are many objects that will be hidden from view on a given camera angle.
Furthermore, I believe games like DII are using parallel projection, while a 3D game tends to use perspective projection. That’s why in GD, there’s a big difference in how far you can see from various angles but in DII there isn’t. So you won’t be able to replicate a DII like camera. Even if you were to somehow force GD to use parallel projection, it’d probably look really weird since it’s not designed for it.
On the premise, did you extract the templates.arc?
