So I have not played a character who used 2-handed ranged weapons much and now that I started one, I noticed… there does seem to be some difference between the various “regular” rifle types. It seems that the “shotgun” types have a more wide damage range and less piercing damage, while the traditional rifles more piercing and less upper range damage but more consistent damage.
My question is… are there maybe range differences too? So, like would you need to move closer to enemies with the shotgun types? Or it is more of a stats difference?
Just a stats difference. All 2H ranged weapons have the same attack range (exceptions being due to wonky mechanics with +% Projectile Speed). Crossbows, too, will have the highest of all the Armor Piercing values, on average.
that makes me think…
AFAIK, there are no devotions for specific ranged weapons - i.e., ‘requires crossbow/rifle/pistol’, but there are several for melee weapons.
Curious.
Yeah I noticed that about crossbows. I’mm trying to make a pierce+bleed Cadence ranged Blademaster. Thanks!
There is the Hydra constellation whose nodes require a ranged weapon.
Right, but that is equivalent to ‘requires a melee weapon’ not ‘requires a mace’.
There’s no separation between ranged weapon classes (other than 1H, 2H, and DW). There is for melee.
Sure!
But as Diogenes once said -
But why?
No, I get it. They didn’t implement different weapon classes for ranged originally, so can’t be that granular with the devotions now.
