Can someone please explain to me the different colours and their respective meanings? So far I have seen light gold, dark gold, and orange. Is there a difference? I think they are Crit indicators, am I wrong about that?

go to options -> interface and enable 
this will help to understand the colors. Generally speaking, the more orange/reddish the color, the better the critical hit.
