Discovered that it was possible to transfer heavy tools between buildings

I built a foundry and a blacksmith, but only one heavy tool. The heavy tool ended up being on the blacksmith.

That’s when I discovered, by clicking on the “heavy tools icon”, that it was possible to say you didn’t want it.

And the guy building the forge took the heavy tool and my foundry was built and making iron.
Once I had enough iron, I did the same on the foundry and the guy in the blacksmith came and took it (of course I had reactivated it in the blacksmith).

Enough iron to build heavy tools, … foundry ended up getting its new heavy tool (but had to deactivate/reactivate the building for someone to wake up that a new heavy tool was available).

So in the end, you just need to buy 1 heavy tool at the trading post. Then, you can kind of make it turn between the foundry and the blacksmith to build enough heavy tools for everybody.

MY GRACIOUS–GENIUS! Thank you so much for finding this and bringing it to our attention! This will allow me to only buy a SINGLE heavy tool and make the rest myself now. PERFECT!

I’ve done this too but it took a long time for the workers to transfer the tools back and forth. I was initially only able to afford one, then the merchants didn’t bring any more so I didn’t have a choice. I would have preferred to buy them rather than using this method. Maybe there’s a way to make it happen faster, but I think for me the whole process took years of game time.

Good finding, let’s hope devs leave as it is

blacksmith and forge are always next to each other for me … so it took really no time.

I build them next to each other too. It took them long enough for several sets of traders to come and go (I was looking for more heavy tools to buy). Maybe it was just bad luck, I never tried it again after that. I’ll have to try again if it works for you.
