Upon retrospection, I noticed that I’ve got most of my legendary item blueprints while leveling various characters in ultimate, rather than while farming at 85.
Also, there’s a slight annoyance of having over 150 Sentinel kills with no Covenant blueprint.
I think it’s the mechanic of blueprints dropping. Blueprints you already know don’t drop any more, leaving you with a smaller pool. If the game generates a blueprint you already know, it will roll again, but if the second time it also generates one you know, it will not drop any blueprint.
So yes, it’s expected those last blueprints will be b*tch to acquire on your own.
Keep in mind that opening shrines and one-shot chests can account for a good number of your initial blueprints. That plus the slow down of ‘no duplicates’ can easily account for this feeling.
If the game generates a blueprint you already know, it will roll again, but if the second time it also generates one you know, it will not drop any blueprint.
So, wait, do those rules interact with Sentinel specific drops? Like, how does this work for him:
Do his 2 specific recipe drops have their own, separate chance to drop (like let’s say, he has an x% chance for a general blueprint drop, as well as a separate roll y% and z% for his 2 unique helmet bp drops).
or
His unique blueprint drops are just added to the pool of possible general blueprint drops and are only checked for when he gets the said general blueprint drop roll?
Just curious. The second case would mean that if you have a lot of blueprints your chances to get the sentinel helmets would go up the longer you play, but it also means that the chance to get them is unreasonably, hideously “why am I wasting my time on this” low to begin with. In the first case, it could easily be something like 5% chance for each recipe with me just getting silly unlucky (I’ve read several accounts of people getting both sentinel recipes within 30-50 total runs).
Special drop blueprints are special drop. They don’t appear in the loot orbs (where normal blueprints would be generated) but instead are carried under the WYSIWYG system, well cept you can’t see them. At least that is how it works for the Mistborn Talisman from troll bosses. So other blueprints won’t matter as far as getting those to drop.
Although I have seen troll bosses drop blueprints outside their loot orbs once I’ve learned the mistborn talisman recipe. So it seems if it tries to generate one of these ‘special’ blueprints but you already have it you can get an extra shot at a random blueprint.
Nifty. I imagine setting up a route to farm the troll bosses is a decent way to speed up general blueprint farming, then (assuming Mistborn talisman drop rate is high, and ultimate level trolls can convert an attempt to generate a duplicate Mistborn into a general blueprint drop while ignoring the level difference).
Well, back to beating my head against the wall in the hidden path.
You should have most of the blueprints in the game after running 2 characters to end game. I managed to get a bunch from strongboxes as well. Of course the more blueprints you get the less of them you’ll see. So if you’re only missing a handful of them, then you’re not gonna see them drop very often.
You can somewhat exploit this by creating a number of tunes and having them complete Ultimate difficulty. It guarantees more shots at getting recipes then grinding a single char. Wouldn’t net you many legendary recipes, but you’d be getting most of the rest.
farm nemesis on elite you’ll still get legendary lvl 75 blueprints.
Well, there isn’t any reason to do so if you can kill them in ultimate, right?
Also, hypothesis:
Covenant of the Three is the result of Zantai getting tired of all the whining about the Outcast’s Secret drop rate. 250 ultimate Sentinel kills and counting now…
Crate, plz. Could the drop rate on single enemy drops (and all future such items) not be a derivative of the dick punching equation? This is just not cool. I can think of no earthly reason for allowing RNG to suck enjoyment out of the game to this extent.
Sorry man, but looks like RNG is not being friendly with you… I got the Covenant of the Three to drop after 4 kills… unfortunally for me I was looking for Eldritch Gaze. But was still able to get it on kill 46…which I thought was a lot… 250 is ridiculous!
Hope your luck changes soon! I’ll craft the helm for you, if you have the matts…
286, to be precise. Counted by that rovers pet buff potions spent (1 per kill). Thank you for the offer, but RNGesus finally got tired of my whining and gave me the blueprint.
Like, the worst part about a grind that long is that you don’t even feel the satisfaction of the lottery win. Felt rather hollow…
Been playing again Vanilla recently after a long break - I am missing quite a few helmets since they released ie Bloodragers - none of my characters had done Hidden Path either
Ive gotten 2 chars to 81/85 recently and found a grand total of two blueprints - right as I got off last night - from Salazar chest (second kill) and the death room in SoT dropped a helmet - but no Heroes/Bosses are dropping any
I am looking to finish the helmet blueprints and I want an Arcanum Sigilis blueprint - anyone know best way to farm them in 1.01?
edit: is The Sentinel one of the only bosses that drops specific blueprint as well?
Nemesis Troves in Ultimate. I got a lot of blueprints from them. (Also legendaries too)
Mostly from testing the build with Fabius. Also, got some when farming Killian’s component route in arkovian undercity and face Moosiluake. Sometimes I get from Aetherial Crystal farming at Warden labs and face Valdaran too.
I’m down to the last few ones to find, and oddly I have gotten a couple from devotion shrines this month. Haven’t had one drop from a nemesis trove since last year… The last few are a total pain to find I have to admit, it’s taking many months.
