Do deers actually eat from clover fields?

I’ve tried to put some clover fields without farmers but there is no visual clue that deers are eating anything, if I add beans or turnips, and a farmer, the icon appears very quickly
Any idea?
By the way, while looking for information, a video about a real life person putting cloverfields to attract deers, popped out :laughing:

I used to put a 5x5 farm in the deer patches, didn’t seem to matter what was growing there were always deer.

I built over a deer spawn icon, I now have deer wondering inside my city.

I have some too in others maps but when at the wastelands map, fertility is thought so no much deers around, that’s why I want to atract them to my crops fields
