Back when I played this game about a year or so ago I remember dual wielding pistols felt rather clunky because it forced you to stand still for a little too long (giving it a clunky feeling) every time you shoot. Is that still the case?
I ask because I don’t have any characters anymore so I cannot test it myself.
My apologies if I wasn’t clear, but that’s not what I meant.
I understand that you can’t attack while moving, but when I played the delay felt so long with dual pistols that it made the gameplay a little clunky and awkward. I’m wondering if it still has that clunky feel when you dual wield pistols.
Nope, and i dont think they should. I’ve played with dual pistols, and its doesnt look like clunky for me. Maybe, you just get too used to PoE’s “clear speed meta”, where you run at cosmic speeds and oneshot screen of monsters with one click? Things like that dont happen in GD.
i sure do hope this guy defines “clunky”. The term is so vague that sometimes, people would give a supplementary explanation of why they say its clunky.
I’m running a dual wield cadence commando with a decent enough attack speed thanks to Oleron’s and Field of command buff. I’m firing anywhere from 3-4 shots per second and responds to the direction I’m pointing at everytime I shift+click. As far as expectations go in A-RPG genre, this is as smooth as goes, for any ranged build mechanic in any ARPG game.
Clunky might not be the best word, but honestly the ranged options in this game are really just not fun. You have Fire Strike and that’s really it (I’m aware you can use Cadence but I just don’t see why you’d use it as ranged). I personally don’t feel like any of the trees are suitable for ranged (other than Demo). I’ve personally never found any enjoyment from ranged builds (even when you could meme hard with Vortex of Souls).
I dunno. Every time I want to try ranged I just go back to casting or melee. To me, its very unsatisfactory to play.
Cadence is actually a strong ranged pick for dual wield. I think it’s already common knowledge by now that GD monsters and baddies are not known for their physical resists in general. This is why pure physical Warders and Commandos have it real easy clearing majority of the game content with just self-found gear.
Add this to the fact that you have easy access to -% resist reduction and a strong -30+ flat physical resist reduction via Warcry > Break Morale. You will be hitting like a truck with all the crit and attack speed Dual Pistol builds inherently gives you while giving you the Pure FLAT physical damage boni a Commando (Soldier and demo) inherently gives you. This is an overlooked option due to the fact that this damage option is a slow starter compared to firestrike and elemental based dual pistols
