So I made an arborist but found out I have to supply my own fruit trees (which makes sense). I’m assuming some traders sell them but have yet to see it offered and I haven’t found anything out in the wild.
Do they not spawn naturally or am I just unlucky?
Nope, you click on the arborist building and then choose what to plant from the trees offered there. Each one will cost one gold ingot. Place them in the work radius circle and labourers will come and plant them.
It would nice if the arborist could at least help out with planting them. It’s weird that they’re just standing there, nothing to do, watching the labourers plant their apple trees.

I don’t see this displayed anywhere and I don’t seem to lose a gold ingot when I plant one. Or is this when they’re fully grown or something?

Maybe it’s just work time I’m thinking of then. I know ordinary tree planting costs 1, but maybe not the arborist ones.
Arborist trees cost 30 labor each to plant them, and must be placed within the arborist’s work area you set, otherwise the arborist won’t collect the fruit. So my tip is set the work area first then plant the trees so you can maximize the circle, as the building takes up space for tree planting. The trees also take time to grow before you can harvest fruit from them.
Decorative trees cost 1 gold ingot, but no labor, and can be placed pretty much anywhere there’s a free square, and again take time to completely grow.
