In most villages I create I never get the economy to balance let alone make a profit. I one of the villages I managed to get an economy that was most of the time creating a surplus but eventually needed a refill of cash from sales of goods.
Whats your best tips for creating a booming economy?
patience. eventually I got to tier 3 or 4 and manufactured enough gold ingots to build up my supply over time, while still keep my actual profit from taxes and such around 10-80 ingots a month.
yes Huge profit. It usually takes around year 50 for me to start pulling away
to the never look back thing. If the map has gold deposit it is super easy.
If not you gotta trade a lot and it is not as quick. My current town I make about
20K profit a year. I would say 10K from gold and 10K from trading. year 217
and I just hit 800K gold. My oldest town year 2161 no gold or any resources left
all ran out like 2000 years ago I also make about 20K a year.
That town is about massive targeted items and 1000 a month income just from taxes
with no expenses and of course trading.
Best tip I can give is to reduce expenses. Best way to do that is layout your town
in such a way so you only need 2 rat catchers. 1 theater 1 hospital and very few troops.
then shut those item off as much as possible.
If you have a goldmine then it is super easy. Just put 16+ workers on mining.
If no goldmine then focus on a few items to trade and make mass amounts.
I like to make iron items like armor and heavy weapons and sell them every
chance I get. I also like items that have a lot of resources like candles
and beer and honey. wax and beer are easy to come by.
remember also traders only have so much gold BUT you can fill their
pockets by buying stuff like spice that makes you huge profit. Then
turn right around and sell big money items to get back that 30K you just
spent on spice. This way the profit from spice via taxes is 100%.
Many players never make enough high value item and thus take a beating
every time they need spice etc… so the profit from spice is super low
if you can’t instantly get back what you spent.
Thanks Groovy, you are out of this world. (If you are a stock broker in real life, call me )
I do do this, but the problem here is that the traders only have so much cash to buy with. I clean them completely of cash every time, but it simply isn’t enough. (I sell/re-sell several times in order to buy lots of goods. This is a good way of getting goods, but it still doesn’t make you more cash).
Try Cheese. That is where the real money is Cheese has the spelendid property that if you want to restock 500 cheese, a trad post guy can re-stock 500 cheese in two goes. That is unique as far as I can see, meaning you can do several trades per trade run.
Ah, spices raise taxes? I did not know that. Thanks. Is it enough to keep the spice in the TP or do you need to make it available in the village?
Yep, mee to. But I rarely mange to get the production rate high enough for the complete production chain why this for me is not so fast.
and that is why I wrote about spice and why you need big items to sell. lol
what you said also indicates your expenses are too high.
I never do cheese because it takes too much milk and milk spoils quickly as well.
That is why I like candles(high value luxury item). You get way more money and
wax never spoils and wax is an endless supply.
Cheese IMHO is better off being left for food since it doesn’t spoil quickly
and it means you do not have to go crazy on barns and crops and fruit.
As soon as you start selling food you risk the roller coaster of food supply.
huge HUGE profit when you are moving to manors.
Buy 30K spice get double back in luxury taxes.
Be careful though only move enough spice from trader storage into global
storage to cover the manors. Spice does spoil and you can’t allow
that to happen. So wait until your global amount is almost 0 then
move over the amount equal to the number of manors you have.
that is why you need to target a few big money makers only. Which is why
I focus on armor and weapons and a few luxury items made from wax
or some other resource I have an abundance of lol
I almost always run into a fure shortage in each game. Not enough fures to create shoes and jackets which will impact hapiness. Not in a harmful way, but always being some percentages down. I tried to rectify this by building 12 farms and stock them full of cows, rendering a reasonable supply of fures. The milk was originally a by-product of that situation and as you say milk gets bad fairly quickly hence a large cheese production. But it is a good comoddity to sell. With that said, I see that there seems to be a tax component to the candles which the cheese will be missing out on.
And Upgrade 2 Hunters don’t have to be within radius of Deer, so if you were so inclined, you could carpet the map with hunter’s huts and traps . . .
And then use the cow barns strictly for Food: meat and cheese, and for that, as stated, about 6 fully-upgraded Barns with 20 cows each, plenty of grain and root veggies and dedicated clover pastures will do the trick for 1000 population.
