Does added damage get multiplied by % Weapon Damage?

Just a quick mechanical question that I couldn’t find the answer to anywhere, nor test successfully.

How does the formula work? Is it something like this:
(Weapon’s damage + item flat damage [except from shield] + skill flat damage) * Weapon damage bonus * each individual damage type bonus?

Yes.

/10chars

Thanks man. No wonder it’s so much easier to scale % weapon damage skills.

How does this work though when the % is less than 100%? So for something like Fireblast, does it add the skill’s damage on at the end instead?

Flat damage added onto weapons scales down with the % if it is below 100, same goes for resist reductions, dots, etc on weapons. Note that resistances are capped at their original value can’t use a 200% WD skill to apply a doubly strong buff

With fireblast the damage component of the skill is totally seperate, so spells own dmg is added on at the end if you will

Thanks man, that makes sense.

One last thing then: with % Weapon skills that are clearly attacks but have <100% Weapon damage, does this reduce the added damage provided by the skill and items? For example, Forcewave with its transmuter has <100% Weapon damage.

Flat damage on shield works the SAME as bonus on weapon - it works only for hits with that weapon or shield (some abilities use shield as weapon).

And you’re wrong about formula.
That’s the more correct formula:
((Weapon’s damage + item/buff/… flat damage) * Weapon damage bonus + Skill damage bonus) * each individual damage type bonus

As you see, damage added by skill, is not multiplied by weapon damage bonus (or penalty)

Does ((WD+Item/buff/…FD) * Wdb + Sdb) * Each InDB then get multiplied by the crit damage when a crit is rolled? There is scaling there based on your OA/DA difference and your crit damage right?

Does 25% crit damage = 0.25 of that number that gets displaced when you crit or does it scale that number? ie. with an extra 25% crit damage does 1.5 become 1.75 (1.5+0.25) or 1.875 (1.5*1.25) or are both wrong?

“Total damage is increased by X%” bonus, and critical damage multiplier both apply to ALL skill’s damage (both weapon and non-weapon parts, and including DoTs too).

Critical damage multiplier is actually a SUM of 2 parts:

  1. Base critical damage. This one is determined when crit roll is made. The lowest one is 1.1x and is displayed with pale yellow color. If your OA substantially exceeds enemy’s DA, you may (sometimes) roll higher base critical damage (1.25, 1.4, and so on. For it, color displayed changes to solid yellow, then to orange, and even to red.
  2. Bonus critical damage. This is the sum of all “crit damage bonuses” from skill itself, gear, constellations, buffs, etc.

For example, if you roll for 1.25 base critical damage and you have +25% bonus summary, then your damage will be multiplied by (1.25+0.25) = 1.5

Thanks for the responses guys!

Two questions though, regarding:

  1. Does DoT benefit from % Weapon damage?
  2. Does damage from a skill’s extra passives benefit from % Weapon damage, or does it count as skill damage bonus?
  1. Yes, it does. Of course, it has to be weapon DoT damage (for example, DoT on weapon itself, or passive stat from constellation).
  2. Skill’s “extra passives” augment skill itself, and usually behave as bonuses on skill itself (if not stated otherwise). So, they arent affected by %weapon damage, usually.

Thanks for your responses, it’s so useful to know these things
