Don't understand how Physical resistance is calculated

So, I made a build on Grim Tools (here: Tactician, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator). Then I made it in the game – and it works fine, except I struggle with bosses that negate damage absorption, will take tips if you have 'em.

What baffles me, though, is that

insane Physical resistance – because I can’t tell where it’s supposed to be coming from, and the in-game version certainly doesn’t have it.

Is Grim Tools messing with me, or have I missed something?

Oho! See, that makes a lot more sense!

That makes it 19% which seems a lot more reasonable (I’m at 15% in-game and still missing one item).

I guess thats because your overall damage is a bit low because of several factors.

  1. The most important one. Your devotions are a bit over the place for a pierce-damage build. Mainly because you dont use Assassins Blade. This single devotion will multiply your damage versus certain enemies by a factor you wouldnt even assume - you have to integrate it.

  2. Skill points. You spent e.g 8 points in decorated soldier - about 2 should be enough. Spend the rest in field command and its modifier. Also take 4 points out of counter strike and put them in field command. And you really have to specc into steel resolve in the inquisitor path, one of the strongest nodes in the whole game.

  3. Also related to skill points: You have a 50% chance to trigger WPS via the set, plus 96% via the skills you chose. Thats 46% youre currently wasting as theres no benefit of having more than 100%. Id sacrifice Zolhans technique first, as it doesnt offer any additional benefits for you, and then probably bursting round or chilling rounds. The skill points you gain here should go into speccing Steel resolve & finishing field command.

  4. Gear. The ring set is rather useless for your build as you have reduced targets resistances via other sources and dont benefit from retaliation. Get some rings which reduce enemy pierce resistance and your damage will skyrocket

Also what damage type are you exactly trying to use here? The set and your whole skill choice supports pierce damage, but then you convert a major portion of your damage to physical via the gloves.

I was going for pierce, but I’m not surprised I’ve messed it up. XD I’ll take your tips to heart and see what they do for my ability to beat things up! Bullying nemesis bosses is a hobby of mine.

because what tqFan points out
as a tip, handy GT habit is to only check GTs with Red and Yellow buffs active as default,
and in some cases like Oathkeeper builds with ascension to keep in mind checking stats with it turned off/unskilled still, to not skew perceived stats too much (ex ascension is like 50% uptime at most on avg)
