Playing a bit with two Warpfire swords, I just realized that conversion now affect the basic damage but also its DoT form. ABB, OFF and its modifier or Shadow Strike and Nightfall, they all deal burn instead of frostburn.
Is that new? It was a requested feature but I don’t remember reading it in any changelog. If that is working as intended, it opens up a lot of new possibilities!
Bleed is the DoT for Pierce, last time I checked…?
And yeah, it does matter, because it looks like it’s an incomplete feature in the game…
EDIT:
I sincerely don’t think it’s ok to let these damage DoTs named “Unknown” on the tooltip, because it looks like it’s unintended behavior or an incomplete feature that was forggoten during EA.
It’s not. Pierce and Bleed share nothing in common.

What do you mean by related? It’s not like they are linked in the editor. If you go look at the TQ database editor (it’s probably like 90% the same.), you will see that there are different fields for each damage type, and there is no way to convert a flat source to DOT, or to mark it as a DOT. They are separate entities in the database, and are distinctly labeled as “Physical, Pierce, Fire, etc” and then there is another section for “Slow Physical, Bleeding, Fire, Poison, etc”.
To truly display how unrelated they are, when you want to stop fire damage what stat do you stack?
Dunno man… I never looked at the editor or any stuff like that.
When I said I thought they were “related”, I was merely assuming on how a lot of the main damage sources are usually accompanied by their DoTs counterparts, be it on skills, components, gear affixes, or gear bonuses in general, and how their resistances are linked, like Fire resistance will also increase your Burn resistance (yeah, I know that it doesn’t works like that when it comes to damage), hence why I thought Bleed was the DoT for Pierce.
A mod that makes bleed the DoT version of pierce is definitely something I plan to install as soon as one is made. The way it works as of now really is just a baffling inconsistency compared to every other damage type. Of course, this hinges on such a mod being made…I can’t really do it myself since I’m completely awful at programming. I tried taking an intro to programming class once…it’s the only class I’ve ever failed. I just can’t get my head around it at all.
