You know, it doesn’t have to be called “dragon” or even be stereotypical dragon.
When I first saw wendigos in gloomwald I didn’t even knew what wendigo is, thought it’s a yeti of some sorts. What I thought at the moment was “Wohoo, werewolves <3. I’ll slaughter you nicely :3”.
I had seen plenty of modern dragon art and some have fur and feathered wings. It still feels like a dragon because it has just right body proportions, even though technically it’s closer to beasts.
But try to make sure it remains a dragon despite all the modifications and not a fuckin’ wyvern that every dumbass piece of fiction is doing these days, you know like Skyrim Or GoT or The Hobbit Movie (despite it being a dragon in the book)
They’re all good works of fiction but they shouldn’t be excused for this
Okay…gets his versions of Draconomicon from the bookshelf
Wyvern are dragons. They are a subspecies, but dragons nonetheless.
Smaug (and all dragons in Middle-earth) are described as “wyvern-like” (concerning their look). They are much more intelligent as the standard wyvern and can cast spells.
In D&D, when you referring to dragons, most people think of the chromatic (evil) and metallic (good) dragons. They have very different looks as you can see e. g. here:
Think about Shadowrun:
You have very different dragons, even feathered wyrms.
Green one is the closest to what I imagine a stereotypical dragon be like.
Bleak-red and bronze have way too bat-like wings, yellow one in addition has way too snakish neck. I’d say these are farthest away from stereotypical dragon.
And yes I agree that Wyverns are dragons even from a mythological standpoint they’re supposed to be the English/Welsh variant of the creature (something like that, memory is a little fuzzy)
Despite being a subspecies of the creatures they clearly have a different name and should be referred to as such. I mean look at Shadowrun for example, Mujaji is very well a dragon but he is a feathered serpent and therefore is always referred to as such.
And I recall Smaug is supposed to have four legs, that doesn’t sound like a Wyvern
Well they’re reptiles after all
All Wyverns are Dragons but the converse isn’t true
Looks super badass
Thanks for the share
And yeah Necro item granting this summon or a necro boss summoning this thing for a boss fight
The Horns on these dragons are position in an extremely ineffective way:D This dragon is angry cause he has trouble eating and always gets his head stuck into something
See, when I saw all of those Beronath spawn skeletons on the way to Malmouth I was kinda hoping they’d all suddenly start attacking me as a zone wide superboss. Probably be a bit much though.
Didn’t ever see a response to this, and no screenshots because lazy, but there’s actually two of these: one in the Desolate Wastes beside the south end of the blocked bridge, and the other in Void’s Edge just SE of the exit rift.
Given how big those skulls are, we’re talking about a critter that could dispense with any sort of fight theatrics and literally swallow you in one gulp.
Those skeletons and the description on some item procs such as Volcanic Wyrm’s Breath make it look like Dragons were once part of Cairn but Zantai keeps on insisting there are no dragons
