Dragons in Grim Dawn

In one of the streams Zantai confirmed that the large bones in Jagged Wastes belong to dragons.

I’m making this thread to share screens of dragon bones where you guys find them and to start a discussion if Dragons will fit the current world of Cairn?
From a lore point of view it seems rather odd that Aetherials who seem to love dead bodies haven’t bothered reviving these creatures

And speaking of Dragons would you prefer them to be dumb wyverns as they’re represented in modern fiction or intelligent four-legged beings?

Since I also said I am sharing screens of Drake bones. Here’s one

Coven of Ugdenbog-

I could be wrong, but aren’t there a lot of them in the Void rifts? There’s even a hidden chest “inside” one of them in the rift just beyond Barrowholm.

The latter, ofcourse

Well i haven’t seen any Aetherials reviving any skeletons alive. Only actual bodies that consist of flesh, blood and bones.

Uroboruuk however…

Can you please screenshot this next time you come across it?

Groovy

Really, I thought they should be able to since both Necros and Aetherials draw power from the aether realm

A Necro Dragon pet is something I’ve been wanting to see in GD. Or better yet a Rogue Necro who summons a fucking dragon to fight you
That sounds like an epic quest for Revered rep with Necro faction

Well, if Dragons were intelligent beings, they would rule Cairn. There is always the possibility that they died out long before but who were their enemies?

In the picture it seems like a skull of a black dragon. You can see it at their horns. Would fit because they live in swamps/bogs.

That drake looks awesome

Well considering deities like to constantly fuck with Cairn it is plausible they wiped them out

Btw, speaking of Dragons the guy in my avatar is one as well. (Source: Shadowrun:cool:)

Dunkelzahn? Ah, no, it´s Lofwyr, CEO of Saeder-Krupp.

Yes, perhaps the gods killed the Dragons. Always a possibility but what did the god of dragons say to this?

Perhaps the skeletons belong to Drakes; not quite Dragons (not as intelligent) but fearsome nonetheless.

R.I.P

Never deal with a dragon:)

See this is why I told you guys to vote for Chthon
#BloodForChthon

I like this idea
Anything besides those God awful Wyverns

Short Derail:
Dunkelzahn is not dead. His body might be but his soul…well, the metaplanes see to it.

Grim Dawn is a melting pot from different Fantasy/Horror-Genres. For sure, there is “Call of Cthulhu” and there is “D&D”, all in a post-apocalyptic world.

Dragons/Drakes would fit in, if Crate puts a decent story behind it.

Given the large number of dead dragons in the void rifts I’m pretty sure it’s your fault that we don’t get to have dragons Chthon.

Are you sure? I thought he sacrificed himself?
Memory is a little hazy was it ever insinuated his spirit survived?

Btw what is your opinion on HBS’ Shadowrun games?

Grim Dawn II: Rise of The Black Wyrm confirmed?

Hey, watch it before pointing fingers. Ulgrim brought all those bones along with him for cooking. I’m innocent

Are you sure? I thought he sacrificed himself?
Memory is a little hazy was it ever insinuated his spirit survived?

Fairly sure. His “soul” was later trapped into the Cyberzombie Burnout (Lethe). Looked it up, last page of “Beyond the Pale”.

To the Shadowrun Games:
I´m a fan of Shadowrun since 199X (can´t remember exact year). Right behind me, there are about 50 - 60 (?) Pen&Paper-Books to Shadowrun as all novels ever written in english (and a fair number of german novels). The PC Games are nice, I played only one of them (can´t remember, which one). The universe is great though in the last years a few things got really weird.

Hmm, well might have something to do with Catalyst taking over. This might also mark an end to any ties in with Earthdawn storyline. Meaning Verjigorm might never appear in Shadowrun ever :frowning:

Don´t get me wrong. Shadowrun is great. We here in Germany have a really great Shadowrun Community and a Publisher/Translater who does a great job.

But I liked the “old times” more. And No, you won´t see anymore Earthdawn in Shadowrun.

Back to Grim Dawn:
Flesh out the story a little bit more and you have a great P&P-RPG. Would like to see it with the D&D 5-Rules or Fantasy/Dragon Age-Ruleset.

Dragons being in the story wouldn’t be too far fetched considering we do have “Wyrmbone” items

P&P style with fully fleshed out ruleset GD might be too hard to implement and maintain for a small dev team

They shouldn´t do it by themselves.

There are a lot of publishers who might make it, perhaps with the help of a Crowdfunding. Green Ronin made Dragon Age e. g.

Pretty sure I confirmed that I’m literally not allowed to put dragons in ever.

When did that happen?

And why? You have their bones in the game, wyrmbone items. If not a full fledged dragon, an undead wyrm makes sense

They’re not dragon bones, just ancient large beasts that fit in our various environments.

Think of them as the spawns of Beronath.
