Dragons

I grew up rather fond of dragons.

I wonder if Dragons would fit in the setting of Grim Dawn?

I think dragons are a little too fantasy for Grim Dawn.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some kind of gigantic rotting Aetherial Plagueatross or something to that extent though.

Yeah a part of me thinks the same. Which is why i haven’t been able to vote myself.

I made a similar thread ages ago and I say yes, they would. A huge dragon hidden away in a valley/mountain that you would get to explore, or even an Aetherial possessed dragon that breathes aether fire would look pretty badass.

I mean, there are gear pieces that are supposedly made of dragons “parts” and also this “dragons are too fantasy for GD” doesn’t really holds any water at all, as GD is a fantasy ARPG, so…

I think if done correctly, it could work so long as it is not your typical, red scale, fire breathing dragon. Everyone knows what dragons are, but in Grim Dawn, we have weird cave mantis, walking scarecrows, cultists, bulbous mutated creations, etc. A dragon, if it was an aether corrupted chimera (think FMA chimera, not greek) … it could be freaking awesome and fitting. Something like what was in Homestead, or what happened with Lucius, an experiment gone horribly wrong.

I think that would be pretty cool. At first i was like “no, a dragon in GD, no way” but, after reading that comment and thinking about it for a few minutes my mind changed. So I’m on board with the idea.

Do i think it will actually be implemented by Crate, no. But By a mod maybe, we would probably have to wait for someone who is on board with this idea and knows the modding tools to go through with and make this.

Something similar to a dragon would be fine.

Maybe a hydra. That may fit. SOme weird Cthonic hydra type thingy

Yes and no.

A flying reptile of mediocre / low intelligence who blows “insert random element here” ? Sure.
A dragon with DnD, Dragon Age, Tolkien or whatever lore ? No.

If we suddenly get a “noble ancient creature of gigantic power and deep devious intelligence who escaped detection for millenia while weaving a complex spy web of trusty agents from every faction”, I will raise the flag for a “there must be dragons” trope.

New fantasy class with Wyvern/Dragon as pet.

Somehow you got me thinking of a Briarthorn Dragon now… which sounds really cool. Like a dragonliche… made of vines and roots.

Everything is better with dragons.

A typical dragon no thanks unless perhaps Mogdrogon has a few hidden in some random cave that he wants to unleash. Aetherial/Ch’thonic/Undead variant could be interesting maybe as there is some lore for dragons in the world.

I wouldn’t want to see too many as judging by the lore they are extremely rare.

Salan did some amazing dragons in the Synergies mod. Maybe we’ll get dragons in his GD mod.

I voted no. I don’t think they fit the main game thematically.

Although it became the center of attention before, a huge bone like a dragon is in the place in which Kalis Ka is present.

Isn’t that Beronath? And possibly Beronath was a dragon. If research of Aetherial progresses, a bone dragon will be a matter of time.

If he was a dragon like being, I would totally be down for an Aetherial reanimated Beronath.

Dragon is the missing beast nemesis

There is existing lore for “wyrms” which, as I understand it, can be synonymous with dragons: scaled, with claw and breath attacks - close enough for me.

Nah. It’s unlikey. Beasts aren’t organized enough to be considered a faction. The only account of them being organized was Bloodfeast. If anything the Eldritch beings are more likely to become a faction. Personally i would love a New Harbor Faction as we do have an island on the map. So some New Harbor quests would be nice. Act IV seemed to miss a lot of those nice repair quests.
