It’s been many years now that I play this game - I was a backer before it became a KS project, I played the early access Beta, I have created a character for each combination of classes possible, and I have played countless hours, period.
And yet, there are Sets that I couldn’t complete. In fact, I can count on one hand the number of sets I completed ! Blueprints ? I can’t find many - when bugs don’t just make’em not appear in my item’s list (goodbye, couple of Legendary objects).
I’m actually fed up by the tenth drop of Spellmaker’s Grip, of the Soiled Pants, or Padala’s will, or Maiven’s Tome… or the Empowered version of the same items ! I want to complete my Praerotian set or see what those other Regal items do… I swear I got that Guardsman Spaulders at least twenty times, but never the Hammer of the same set !
I think everyone is cursed with some epic/legenaries which appear often, or not all all…
I haven’t tidied up my gdia for quite some time and looking at it now my top 5 blues are
22x Mythical Sellecor’s March
20x Mythical Tremor
20x Mythical Bloodhound Greaves
18x Mythical Bladedancer’s Handguards
15x Mythical Final March
and I’m also still missing some.
For legendaries it became like a bad running gag for me… when I have the misery of dropping another Misery… with the ones I sold already i must have picked up almost 10 already… more then i have different high lvl legendary rings
If you don´t want to get the same drops over and over again, try to play long game sessions. Afaik the drop mechanic in GD will try to prevent duplicate drops per game session. That being said, in some level ranges, where no to many epics can drop, you still might get duplicates.
“Bad” RNG is obiously a thing that can happen now and then.
Blueprints drop mostly from Treasure Troves, Hero Mobs and of course, bosses and nemeses. Seek those out.
Playing online might also help, in my experience most players gladly give away epic drops or even legendary ones for free. Droprates seem to be higher in mp too.
I think Zantai mentioned in last weeks dev stream, that “completing sets” is something that he wants to adress in the upcoming expansion. So there´s hope.
Yes, you are cursed. To remove the curse, you must stop putting spaces before your punctuation. Question marks and exclamation points are not words. Until you do this, you will NEVER see any new blue or purple items!
I should’ve mentionned that I play half solo, half local with my wife - so there’s a high dose of MP. My sessions are never less than two hours long. Sometimes, we traded some items for some Sets, but nothing too fancy as one item always seemed to be lacking for either of us
As for my punctuation, you’ll have to pardon my french, littéralement
Besides playtime, it also helps to know where/what you are farming or what your route is? I and some others might be able to suggest more efficient ways of grinding out Legendaries if we knew.
On a related note, I was mildly surprised that earlier today, I got 2 of the same blue chest pieces (Zolhan’s Battle Plate) within minutes of each other (veteran difficulty). I got one from the gold chest after beating Karroz at the end of Darkvale gate, and the second from beating a random hero monster at the bottom of the steps after leaving the Darkvale gate.
I always follow the route leading me to the next portal ; once it’s fully done for four or five portals, I quit and get back, and do it once again. Sometimes, I pick up specific locations like the Sunken Passage little dungeon (Sunken Crypt ?) or the Warden’s Laboratory, or the Bastion.
You may want to try the “farming routes”, where it is more or less guaranteed that you’d find orange or purple enemies, even red ones. My favorite farming routes are:
Swarming Hive, the insectoid lair in Twin Falls
Arkovian Undercity, also in Twin Falls
Cronley’s Hideout, has its own portal
Burning Cellar, Malmouth Outskirt
The route from Malmouth City’s Crown Hill portal to the lair of Theodin.
These are the areas which yield high number of enemy Heroes and Bosses, even Nemeses.
Also, try dungeons. Steps of Torment is beginners friendly (so to speak); Bastion of Chaos is a tad harder (especially for fire builds that lack RR); Port Valbury is great for chances to get nice MIs (need to buff up your aether resist, tho); and finally the new Ancient Grove, which has netted me the highest rate of Legendary drop compared to any other run (although the final boss is an effing PITA). High legendary drop in these locations, and of course a lot more epics.
