[Druid] Ranged Caster TSS/WD

Druid Caster TSS/WD

Hello people, today i present you my own build of Druid Caster. I created this guide because of the evident lack of guides about caster build in the Druid department and will try to keep it updated. If you have questions and/or suggestions about the build feel free to tell me in the comments.
The base of the build was created by me and then refined with the help of various guys/gals on the discord community to provide the best build possible (special thanks to Dyscordia, Drizzto and Elementoid).

1. The build

V1.0

V1.1 (What ? Already?)

As i discovered the Hidden Path and more importantly it’s Sentinel, i was struck down quite hard. And so the adjustments to ensure survavibility. It’s much better like that although still not able to beat that damn sentinel alone :frowning:

As a General Rule you can do 1/1 phys and spirit. You won’t need any cunning for the build as you don’t use any ranged weapon and will gain Offensive Ability from the devotions and gear.
Pay notice to the fact that we only invest 40 points in the Shaman Mastery, pay special attention to that as you can’t refund it afterward, and we need thoses 10 points elsewhere.
Your end game main way to kill is gonna be Trozan’s Sky Shard/Trozan’s set skills. Wind devil is good for more sustained damage and generaly being annoying for the monsters, but it’s damage pale in comparison of the rest. Which doesn’t mean you don’t need it in any way

3. Pros and Cons

First, it’s a fun build to play, you don’t have to auto attack (hell you shouldn’t auto attack at all) so you can move around freely without being stuck in place for ages. The AoE damage is great, you will melt monsters with tons of cool effects everywhere, metors falling from the sky, lightning arc striking things and so on.
It’s a quite safe build as your way of damaging allow you to move to evade attacks, plus you have five spells - two passives, three actives - to keep you alive. You can freeze monsters nearly non stop allowing for safe killings.

On the cons side, you are quite squishy, so a mistake can quickly end you even if the new version greatly improved that aspect. Freeze resistants opponents may be a bother, also those pesky Skeleton knights are hard to kill with only burst damage. You will not be able to brag about your incredible Damage per second, as we don’t rely on auto attack (and i advice you to replace it by the move action). But the most annoying thing about this build is that it really start shining at level 75 with the Trozan set, which is quite late and require quite peculiar piece of equipments.

4. Leveling

So the leveling path, this one is a bit chaotic as you will takes points then remove them, use skills then not anymore… Well…
If you have the Crucible, you may want to start by doing that for the first 20 levels.

Level 10 build : http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-3VAOwb
Why Summon Briarthorn would you say ? Simple, because the summon is a beast that will tear all your ennemies for you, making for a really easy time leveling at first. Plus the high cost of Trozan 's Sky Shard make it a poor spell early on.

Level 20 build : http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-mfOat2
We just rush stats, it will allow you to wear stuff as you Briarthorn destroy everything.

Level 40 build : http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-GEcYB3
We start leveling Wind devil and your arcanist mastery, at this point most of your damage come from WD and Reckless Tempest from your devotions.

Level 50 build : http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-AJIx4e
We drop the Briarthorn and start pumping Trozan’s Sky Shard, Olexra’s Flash Freeze, Maiven Sphere, the build start looking like it should. Maxing the Flash Freeze allow you to get defensive capability by freezing everything in your path

The rest is pretty straight forward so i’m not gonna explain it, you tinker points depending on your gear, the goal beeing this : http://www.grimtools.com/calc/qeVLgL2G

5. Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed the guide, feel free to comment and have a good day

Looks nice. Have you tried this build against Mad Queen/nemesis bosses? And also, any reason you didn’t put more points in Shattered Star?

I just did a run of the Mad Queen, it’s not your typical fast go and kill, it’s more like a minute or two of running around…

I didn’t put more in shattered Star because it only get you 11% more chance to do lightning damage and some measly stuff you don’t actually need. We need the points elsewhere.
