[Druid] Sherkhan's Thunderstrike (2H Ranged Primal Strike | 50 Shaman 15 Arcanist)

Hey there, seems like a fun build. I’m currently around level 30, I’m just wondering how do you deal with energy issues? I don’t have Maiven’s Sphere yet, and im already potting constantly. Is the bonus from Iskandra’s enough to keep recharge up or is there some key item to help with it?

Since your devotions alone also give you around 380+ aether damage, and considering that Arcane Bomb also debuff aether, have you tried a Vortex of Souls? It’s a 2h ranged rifle that deal PURE aether damage, so no conversion is required, and anyway most of your flat lightning damage should come from your skills. This should allow you to split your damage (less problems against resistant mobs) and take back some points from IEE and put them on the last node of the skills (+crit damage is awesome.)

It also has 100% chance to pierce (O_o), that work very well with PS. If you somehow get this weapon, at least give it a try.

About Falcon Swoop: I never have had a two handed build (melee or ranged) without this proc. Not because all on this forum says to get it, but because it is just too good to pass up, and immensely useful against mobs/bosses with a huge HP pool. Also skills like Mirror and WT give you some time to shotgun them in all security.

I found that the Lightning Storm skill from the Squall relic is also amazing at triggering devotion skills.

Hi would it be possible for you to numerate the order in which you picked your devotions whilst leveling? as I’m in the process of trying out this build and i’m having trouble with devotions

Hi Mr. Sherkhan freaking love ya build, amazing for first characters. Thumbs up and keep it going m8.

I just wondered how you are able to pick the “Spear of the heavens” devotions-skill. As faar as i have noticed you only have 6 chaos(red) devotions points and the skill requires 7…?

My first thought where that Grimcalc is buggy or not calculating correctly.

Please help me out as fast as possible, i really want the spear of heavens to work out so i can stun the heek out of those creepy creepers

Cheers :D:D:D

I would imagine you just move the single point in the Crossroads devotion from the blue to the red. Likely just an oversight on the author’s part.

will this build function without stormcaller’s pact and twister? thinking of briarthorn and primal bond just as a tank w/ taunt.

loved this read already started a toon with this in mind, nice to see a supplement guide to actually help me progress with. saves hours of theory crafting

Apologies for the necro, I didn’t want to create a new thread. I have been theorycrafting a ranged Primal Strike Druid for awhile. I was wondering if this build is still viable, as it’s a bit old now. My old Primal Strike (melee) Druid didn’t turn out so well, so I’m curious as to how well ranged PS does these days. I imagine full Ultos set is pretty mandatory?

Primal Strike with Vortex of Souls is great for clearing trash (well, until it gets nerfed in 1.0.0.8 ), but if you’re going full Ultos then you might as well have the Ultos weapon on switch and go melee for those Nemesis who are gonna end up in your face anyway. Full Ultos melee just does more single target damage.

I haven’t played my Druid in Crucible so can’t comment on that, but for everything else it’s still viable.

Out of interest, how did you manage to screw up your previous Druid?

Thank you for your feedback. Good to know that ranged PS won’t be good on Nemesis, it makes sense…but that kind of sucks.

I think I went too far into Arcanist mastery. I went all the way into the mastery to pick up Elemental Balance for the extra crit damage. My idea at the time was to try to combine the crit damage from Stormcallers Pact, and Elemental Balance. I should have probably saved those points for Wind Devil line and (or) Storm Totem line. I still have fairly enough points to do so, but I just wasn’t feeling comfortable with my first Druid. In short, I seemed too offensively (crit) focused. I remember my Druid doing not so good single target damage, but that could have been mostly due to my gear.

I can’t provide a grimcalc at the moment, so it’s just off the top of my head. Haven’t played that build in a long time, but I remember just getting hammered in Elite. I think I’m level 63 with not so great of gear. I also don’t have any of the Ultos set yet.

I started up a new Druid earlier with the intention of going ranged PS, because I’ve been having fun with Cthon’s ranged ABB build (though his is dual pistols). I’ve had a craving for 2 handed ranged builds that aren’t very common, ie… Non Firestrike.

Yo nice build! u r the path of exile sherkhan?

This build just plowed through Normal\Veteran. So much fun and carnage. Very fun to play.

Once I Hit Elite I started to see stumbles. I found that debuff affect was not enough on the dervishes to overcome some mobs resistance to lightning. The higher I got through Elite I encountered with greater frequency these almost un killable mobs. I stopped playing this build until I can come up with a way to counter this. Debuff from dervishes had a noticeable affect but not make it fun.

I now will not play another build that so tied to a single source damage type. Being that I’m a hermit and only play myself. I learned a valuable lesson to the hermit gamer… Not all eggs in one basket.

Even w/o much RR you should be smashing most stuff in elite, primal strike doesn’t really slow down till ultimate. There is nothing wrong with hard focusing single damage type, many top builds do this  Max out your raging tempest and get Widow for more resist reduction though I don’t think you should need more than 1 for elite tbh. Unkillable mobs sounds very strange for any build in elite! With primal strike/torrent and stormcallers maxed you should be hulksmashing all mobs in elite, only problem should be slower boss kills

This kind of build works much better as an elementalist (or conjurer) btw. Going druid just doesn’t offer much.

Needing immediate feedback for my Druid.

Energy Regen:
Respec’d from sturdy to damage on my 2H RANGED primal striker. but maxed tree + stormcaller just drains so much energy. And being on a 2H rifle there’s just no reliable means energy regen. The toon is already squishy as it is and I’m already focusing on my HP and CDs. I really don’t want to bother with my E-Bar atm. Never had this problem with my B-mage caster.

Crit Sources:
Would love to take advantage of the Tempest Devotion’s proc skill, but it only triggers on crit. Any advice on how to boost up OA without sacrificing too much attribute points on Cunning. I will need as much points as I can for Physique for raw HP and DA

(proc) flat resist reductions:
is there really a need for this when twister tree is available?

  • will swap to my other toons to play while waiting for your responses.

any feedback would be nice

  1. Put Ectoplasms in your rings+ amulet+ medal.

  2. Level up Inner Focus, don’t use Cunning for OA it’s a subpar source. Look for gear with Of Attack suffix.

  3. Wind Devil Resist Reduction stacks with Arcane Bomb and Viper, but not with Elemental Storm.

i would use sth. like this

http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-MqoRGU

im playing a melee druid with this setup + brute force tree and wendigo totem.

use ultos set except weapon

i don’t have any energy issues, so im not sure why u struggle with energy

vs bosses u will struggle i think. my druid isn’t that tanky, got about 10k hp
elementalist is much better

For mana issue, pump up spirit, get energy leech from toggled skill, use briarthorn for added energy regen.

Crit you can get from gears and cunning allocation, nothing i can say about this

Flat resist reduction as in wind devil? It doesn’t stack so pump percentage resistance reduction instead, such as arcane bomb, widow, and you can get some but not necessarily from gear.

sherkhan, can you give me devotion road step by step? Thank you.
Btw. - this build works now fine?

Which stats do I focus on? Physic, cunning or spirit?
