Sorry if the question have already been answered, but I can’t find the information on the forum.
How is attack speed calculated when you dual wield, and weapons don’t have the same attack speed? Do you put the fastest one in the main hand (or opposite), or it doesn’t matter? And is there any other parameter to consider while choosing?
AS is easy to check from character sheet, just check if there’s a difference.
As far as procs etc go, both hands have equal 25% to land a hit.
There’s no lefties or righties in GD.
Pretty sure order doesn’t matter for the vast majority of attacks.
Only exceptions I can think of are Amarasta’s Blade Burst (for melee), Phantasmal Blades and Ring of Steel as these only list using your off-hand or main hand for damage whether you are dual-wielding or not.
Attack speed takes an average. As for damage it should not make a big difference I think. Unless you have abilities that only use %weapon damage for main hand or off hand.
Also keep in mind that % life steal is per weapon. So if you use an ability with only %main hand damage then only life steal on the main hand works.
I usually put the hardest hitting weapon on the main hand. And try to put life steal on both.
So after playing with one of my character yesterday, it seems that attack speed is indeed not affected by swapping the weapons. The average damage displayed in the character sheet is however changing very slightly (just a few points are not relevant), so probably it does change how the damage are calculated, but it is probably just a tool tip thingy, I don’t think it changes anything in real action.
Always try to insert ADCtH components (Haunted steel and so) into main hand weapon. Vast of skills and devotions with % weapon damage are applied via main hand, so you heal yourself with it.
