Hey all. I just finished normal on a DK. Good fun, but a little “dull” imo. Wanting to try a fast DW cold build. I was leaning towards Nightblade for one mastery since it looked fun, but noticed no replacement for auto attack in that tree. I dont’ want to use Soldier since I just played a toon with that mastery.
What mastery do you suggest to go along with Nightblade that is cold damage but melee oriented?
I started to search the builds but thanks to my extremely slow internet (country living) it was taking several minutes to load just one page and forget trying to get a the tools page to load. If someone could link a guide that would be even better . That way I’d only be loading one page. But if not, thats fine too, just a suggestion on what two masteries would get me what I’m looking for and I can make my own way for now I think.
Thanks.
p.s.
a general leveling question too. I was prepared to keep going with my DK, but the thought of walking all over the maps again like I did the first time just didn’t appeal without trying some other builds first. For all the Vets out there, as you go through Elite and Ultimate, do you uncover the maps completely every time? Is it a bad idea to just skip to or run straight to the ends?
Appreciate the reply. One thing I didn’t like on my DK was the way Cadence works. Wasn’t looking forward to using that skill again, or needing it to be core to a build I was using. I will check out the others though.
Thanks for the map suggestion though. Excited to use that.
I can understand your reluctance to use cadence.
Took me a while to go back to cadence from when I first played.
However, you’ll be hitting so fast you forget you’re using cadence.
With the way DW works (proc a double hit, that’ll get you to the third hit of cadence that much faster), the “flow” (aka you’re shredding things with different visuals) is much better using cadence with a DW based character.
Also, that first link has a pure NB spec.
Also, that first link has a +Inquisitor (Infiltrator) spec. Or you can look at this.
The best class for dw Nightblade is Inquisitor. My favorite toon is exactly that.Note that because class combo don’t offer auto attack replacer, you have to use shard of beronath. Here is link to my medium budged Infiltrator if you’re interested http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81548
Inquisitor offers the most.Another automatic RR,damage reduction from censure, second heal, racial bonus.Shaman is the second best offensive class for DW,but requires certain end game items and is squishy, tougher to level it also.Blademaster is third,Cadence hits hard,Soldier class is solid defensively, some utility skills, but no RR,Cadence third hit overrides WPS.Dervish has some unexplored potential.Spellbreaker is classic, but is paper thin class,Saboteur are very poor, you need all three sets for the class and full defensive devotion root to be viable. So my suggestion,1.Infiltrator,2.Blademaater.
So for the Inq mastery, is that how you would place points for what I’m wanting to do?
Also, is does this build favor daggers or swords? Just asking here as it’s a lot faster and less tedious than trying to load up other pages since my internet is so bad its should be criminal.
Veretragna’s stickied Build Compendium IX and X in this forum has a lot of good info too.
For Inq, yes. Note the similarities between the build I linked and Nery’s build.
Swords, Axes, Clubs - for leveling, whatever works best.
Daggers tend to be caster based but might work, too.
You can use the illusionist to make them look like another 1 handed melee weapon.
Thanks for all the info everyone. I’ll book mark this. I was asking a friend about builds and he said to just ask on the grim dawn forums. As you know, for an inexperienced player that can be like walking into a lion’s den.
If you ever find a Korba helm BP, which converts lightning to cold to savagery, you might want to consider making a Korba trickster (nightblade/shaman). This build combines all the deadly nightblade WPS with a very strong auto-attack replacer (savagery, stronger than beronath’s fury) and good RR (wind devil).
Depending on gear/preference you can go the full 4p Korba, which emphasizes Ring of Steel damage in addition to savagery, or pair the helm/chest with the Nex and Ortus swords. With the recent nerf to N&O the two versions should be more on par. Just search trickster under the build compendium for more info.
