Cadence is pretty OP, its transmuter? Not so much.
For those who don’t know why well its cause when you use discord you get physical to elemental conversion.
Elemental conversion means you get 1/3 Cold, 1/3 Fire and 1/3 Lightning
So 99 Physical damage after 100% conversion gets divided into 33 Fire, 33 Cold and 33 Lightning.
Unfortunately we don’t get 100% conversion. Just 50%. Sounds shitty right? Well there’s more, you need 3 points to make discord work. 3 skill points to use this piece of shit transmuter.
My idea-
Increase Conversion to 100% and reduce transmuter cost to 1
Increase Conversion to 80% and reduce transmuter cost to 1
Basically you do need to increase the conversion. Sure you can use IEE amulet for more conversion. But what if i don’t want to use that? I don’t want to be stuck using the same item over and over again.
This could make Elemental Cadence pretty strong.

Discord being shitty has nothing to do with the fact that you only get 50% Conversion. You can easily get another 50-80% from gear and other skills (IEE).
It’s shitty because it modifies only the third hit. IMO, it’d function a lot better as a transmuter for the Deadly Momentum buff, or as a passive (with lower conversion values) requiring Cadence but affecting everything.
I agree with Ceno. Making it affect all attacks when using the skill and not just the third hit would be better. The reason I would be hesitant to make it 100% with 1 skill point is because damage can only be converted once, which means if I wanted to say maximize my fire damage, other sources of phys–>fire are diluted because it’s over 100%. I think having some control over the amount you want converted would be nice.
TL,DR;
Discord affects all attacks when using Cadence skill (including WPS, which would give a potential reason to use WPS with Cadence)

I like the idea of this thread but if you’re trying to go for elemental conversion then you’ll be trying to get 100% regardless of the transmuter.
The underlying problem with transmuters which have conversion is they come first in the damage equation and any other conversion you have is done separately later. So, for example, if I had discord as it stands now for 50% and I also had 50% conversion on my gear I would only have 75% damage converted not 100%. So regardless you would still need 100% conversion from gear and skills (not transmuters) to get that 100% conversion. therefore I am actually better off not getting discord because I can spend those three points elsewhere.
Discord needs drastic rework in my opinion. If you gave discord 100% conversion, in the end you’d most likely achieve 100% (or near enough) conversion through gear and skills so it would become obsolete in the end. I think discord should give you something like 100% - 150% bonus elemental damage and X% elemental resistance reduction. You could perhaps give it increased attack speed or some flat elemental damage to go along with the percent bonus. It should also be reduced down to 1 skill point or 2 for max but 3 is too many.
(Just to reiterate, I have a character with 80% conversion and if I put 3 points into discord I’d then have 90% for Cadence only. That’s only a 10% increase. Those 3 points are better spent else where. Sorry Crate)
Also, as attractive as 100% elemental conversion would seem, it would actually negatively impact a lot of builds and hurt the purpose of the transmuter itself.
100% conversion to elemental is ONLY good for elemental only builds. I have a couple characters which use both elemental and aether damage using mainly physical based skills.
With discord as it is now 50% is converted. Then the remaining 50% Physical damage is converted to whatever damage types you’re using, so for my example elemental and aether. Let’s just say I have a 50/50 split for easy maths, which gives a total of 75% to elemental and 25% to aether in the end.
If Discord converted 100% to elemental then my 25% converted to aether would become 0% because there is no physical damage left after discord to convert.
Once again, for builds converting more than once damage type not getting discord would be the better option.
The only problem in doing that is it would no longer become a transmuter and would become a skill on its own, either a passive or active buff it would seem. As far as I’m aware, transmuters can only affect the skill they’re attached to. which is what I am trying to get at in my previous two posts.
The alternative is to scrap it as a transmuter and create a new soldier skill.
I’m up for that! I think it would be the best decision going forward as an avid battlemage user to create a new skill, which could still be called discord, and scrap the transmuter. I was just trying to think of things that could be done to make discord good for once if that is what crate want to do.
They should imo, battlemage is the only class that lacks many signature builds. I wanted to make a unique battlemage, but i shifted the concept to a warlock and made an end-game farming melee warlock. So BM definitely needs more love.
It doesn’t matter which fix you apply if there’s no gear to support it. Guess how many items there are that give both +soldier and +%elemental. Same issue with aether/elemental (via IEE/Reckless Power/Weapon/Component/Amulet conversion) forcewave.
As for the “perfect” fix I’m all for leaving the scaling as is, but making it stack additively with conversion from other sources and making it work with Deadly Momentum as well.
