Is it just me or is there no use for it?
This is especially bad when you consider the dungeon you have to go through to get it.
I concur, plus that necklace is really hard to farm. The drop rate is very low, I’ve tested it, and GT confirms that

The area is boring and not worth spending time on (very few heroes, no nemesis, too much time to reach Ellena). It’s easier to get it through SR/Crucible chests. But its stats are not that great.
I think its great if you are playing a self found char from start and need an upgrade but not otherwise.
Imo, it’s good if you need RR and you’re a first timer. Other than that, there are three other amulets that do the job better:
Mageslayer
Rimetongue
Night’s Embrace
Mageslayer is best for “I don’t want to press buttons” people, same for Rimetongue, but it’s kind of worse and NE is basically the best, but requires additional button.
the frozen hearts you get in that dungeon is way more valuable than that necklace
I agree completely. I used to use it but dropped to make way for Kaisan’s ammy. I suggest 8- 10% RR on veil of shadow change and maybe add to some cold skills like lethal assault, +5 with assassin prefix
I’d actually recommend to boost it to 20 - 25% cold RR. Why so much? As I said above, there are three amulets that do this better, and they have +1 to inqisitor, Night’s Embrace has +1 to nightblade and has 20% RR for a duration (12 seconds?). Mageslayers is, imo, the best since you get +1 inqisitor and 15% elemental, so you don’t have to cast anything at all (Rimetongue is actually a poor version) and can use it even on Infiltrators that focus on elemental, with a big foot on cold.

You’d still find a need for the +1 to skills. You’ll always lack a point here and there, so the 20/25% RR won’t be a “must have”. It will, for sure, make you consider if you want to have a touch more RR or +1 to all skills. Alternatively, lower the values of listed by me amulets to 10 for Mageslayers and 12 - 15 for Night’s Embrace and increase Elena’s to 15.
not all builds need the plus one especially the ones using mogdrogen ardor. But i get your titan thought, it would be nice to have plus skills but that would make elena too similar to kaisans?
I don’t think so, you’ll get only very few parts. It’s not worth imho, since we have a recipe for crafting a whole Frozen Heart with few common mats
If Elena’s got +1 to X skills, just please no… xD It’d be way better and might be #1 amulet for Nightblade, assuming it’d have +1 to all skills or +1 to nightblade. Imo, a green MI with +1 to all skills should not exist, because it might get out of control. Right now we had Shattered Realm amulet being the #1 (not going to remind everyone of Beronath ), now, if they push + max resists to the set bonus, I just feel that Kaisan will be #1. Green MI with +1 to all skills… you can get whatever you want with that. There’s nothing wrong with that, but to me (probably only to me) it should not exist because it effectively annihilates all other amulets. Empowered Essence of Beronath. I mean yeah, I don’t think Elena’s should receive + to skills.
Edit: I kinda feel that people will start going Wilhelm too. 8 - 12% total speed is kind of huge… 
i know that, just saying how worthless that necklace is in comparison. also pre-fg (or was it aom?) its also a source of mutated scales if im not mistaken. you also get battered shell from the spiders as well. for self found its still a decent place to run before you reload if are lacking in those components
the amulet is indeed bad now, I would just be slightly happy if they buff it a bit. but what makes me much more sad is how Ellena fight is mediocre compared to this one: the water animation is better and more epic:eek:
edit: I think we now know why the ammy sucks, the fight is kinda meh and it just matches the vibe
RR, two sources of flat damage, and resistances in addition shouldn’t make a bad item base :eek:
I personally only see a problem with drop rate, hence potential chances of a good outcome are off. Considering the lenght of the run, drop rate should be higher. Farming Ellena nearly equals of doing Malkadarr, but the latter has guaranteed drop.
But in any other aspect, a cold build is hard to find this ammu bad.
About the area itself - once you do a couple of tries to learn the layout and positioning, it literally turn into speed runs with just a few ground damage taken.
There is only one source of flat on the amulet, and it’s pretty meh. The resistance is nothing to write home about since it’s the most common/least valuable of them all.
There are two sources of flat, conversion is one as well. Or at least for the vast majority of builds.
If a well rolled ellena amu is considered bad, then which cold amulet is good. Would be interesting to know.
I mean legendary, as there’s no rare amulet able to compete (MI has the extra stats).

Um,if you’re Nightblade then you have a lot of options.Mageslayer is BiS,Night’s embrace,new amulet with plus skills for Inq and NB,heart of the mountain for Trickster.All of them probably will outperform even godly Ellena necklace and legit ones are way after them.
