End game farming & General tips

Hello, I’m still fairly new to the game, my main character I’ve hit lv97 with, though I tried out the Shattered Realms and barely managed to finish the first shard.

I’m playing a Cabalist, building towards the build guide of Maya’s their Skull & Bones Pet Cabalist here - Cabalist, Level 100 (GD 1.1.9.1) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

My current build and what I have is here - Cabalist, Level 97 (GD 1.1.9.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

I know I have to go through and respec some of my skill points, but was hoping to get some advice on where I should be trying to farm, to get my build ramping up.

I haven’t fully completed the campaign on ultimate, still finishing up the FG content, though I have completed base game & AOM.

I did attempt Lokarr and have now discovered it is very much an end game boss that is out of my reach for now.

Monster Totems on Ultimate
direct boss/monster farming also if your build uses specific MIs (Monster Infrequents, specific items dropped by specific monsters)
then later on the goal is to be Crucible 130-150 and/or SR 65-66 farm-capable, with the end then being crucible 150-170 and SR 75-76

Go ahead and finish Forgotten Gods on Ultimate and get to 100, which will enable you to farm anywhere at scaled max level.

Shattered Realm scales up in difficulty the farther you go so you can use it as a yard stick for how comfortable you are with your build.

Just after finishing campaign the easiest way to gear up will be monster totems and the skeleton key dungeons like the Bastion of Chaos or Port Valbury - they come with plenty of MIs and legendary drops and can be easier than Shattered Realm at first.

Crucible can also be a fun diversion too if you want to shake things up from campaign content.

Farming Monster Totems provide decent loot, but if you’re looking for endgame recipes, you should farm Nemesis bosses or rogue dungeons’ last boss (the ones opened by a Skeleton Key). Totems, champions and normal bosses have kinda poor drop rate for endgame recipes.
And first-hand, you should farm some MI’s that fit your build. If you’re summoner, then farm proper summoner MI’s (like the ones from Bloodsworn).
When you get stronger, you can try Crucible or Shattered Realms too, though those have poor droprates for crafting resources (components and the like).

(high)SR>Iron Maiden/Zantarin>Monster Totems/Devotion shrines>other Nemesis(fast ones only)>Skeleton Key dungeon>Treasure Troves>Bosses/heroes
Totems are not bad for blueprints, they are actually pretty decent, but they aren’t as high yield as SR or Nemesis troves; keep in mind Nemesis trove is only actually good if you get fast ones, like Maiden or Zantarin, if you get slow nemesis routes/nemesis with multiple or long spawns their efficiency drops

Yeah, it’s inefficient to farm just for sake of Nemesis, they spawn too rarely and randomly. However, you can combine it with other things to maximiza output. For example, i make Lunal’Vagoth runs for its MI belt, while also getting some Chtonic Seals of Binding on the way, Grava’Thul nemesis and monster totems on the way.
