I’ve been pondering my secondary class for my Occultist for a good 30 levels.
Then I finally decided on Inquisitor, but I doubted myself, and now another 20 levels later, I I can’t help noticing that, should the characters energy-needs grow as they have so far, I’ll be out more often than not.
And, the most common approach to that problem I’ve found is the just pick Arcanist.
So, I wonder, what are the strategies to keep up energy, asking as someone who never had that problem. Is it feasible (realistically) to do it without arcanist?
There are different methods for regen like energy leech or absorb from spells. If you are caster without Arcanist and have cooldown reduction you can use harp devotion.Ectoplasm and some othe componets can help you too.
yes I manage energy with any class combo or single class builds. You use caster gear, use components with energy regen, pick up devotions that grant energy regen, put points in spirit, augments that have energy regen.
Most of the time if a build has energy problems i find harp is enough to solve them. Easy devotion to get too - and decent non-energy bonuses.
(But i also use auto-pickup of mana pots, that helps a lot too)
Shaman has Eye of the Storm relic with -10% energy cost. Adding focusing prism and owl devotion gets you -25%. Besides harp, there is also tree of life devotion though its expensive. Some energy leech and absorbtion can be found in viper and revenant devotions, though these are more suited for ranged builds.
Besides what has been mentioned so far, I like Tip of scales, though I know some do not like it.
Look for devotions with both flat and % energy regen
Some items can also provide flat energy regen, not only caster gear.
Well, damn, looks like all the good constellations for that purpose are on the other side of the firmament.
Then again, I can probably manage to at least double energy regeneration with some item changes. Guess I’ll get another few levels in and see.
Thanks, everyone.
I wonder how much I can compensate by chugging a lot of potions?
I use Ectoplasm for medal if I really need it. If I have enough DA, I sometimes sacrifice ring components to get two more Ectoplasms, and if this is not enough, I pick the Arcane Spark for Medal (I change the Ectoplasm in Medal for Arcane Spark).
I always try to reach as much energy regen to maintain my spammable skill for at least one, strongest in defense for that particular character, nemesis monster. So, if my character has enough energy regen to kill, e.g. Kuba and waste only one potion for that, it’s a success, so basically, 90% + energy potion energy can be spent - the 10% of energy is in case something attacks me afterwards and I need to get rid of it. If I can’t manage that, I try to fully re-build my character.
For leveling/killing main quest bosses, I recommend having enough energy to shred a boss up to 50% HP, main bosses tend to give you time to run around and regen. Energy will be always, or most of the time an issue if you’re forced to spam it non-stop (clearing your way through all the trash). I’d recommend using 3 - 5 ectoplasms if you’re on normal/elite, because you can kite nicely there and there are no super good components anyway, for lower level that is.
For end game i did not reccomend ectoplasm in the medal ,this slot is too valuable. For rings other than topaz, not much competition,so one can do the job.
I had a build with super huge damage, but no energy regen at all (2 or 3 per second), I had to get 2 ectoplasms and Arcane Spark. It still ate my energy in few casts of Obsidian Tremor, so I had to change completely. But I agree, most of the time you do not need that much stuff on you.
this is kinda a side-track, but I do wish there were more ring components than Runebound topazes for end-game…
I wonder why there seem to be no jewelry augments that combine energy with chaos.
not that many jewlrey augments that have energy regen stuff anyway. You do have energy and chaos augments for weapons though
Sometimes I like Mark of Illusions. It still provides some Defensive Ability while also having Spirit and energy regeneration for builds that need those things.
Yeah they are good, but still a very basic component. Would be nice with a higher tier version of that (or something like arcane spark for rings)
Yeah Bard’s Harp fixed the severe energy problems of my 2H physical Forcewave Tactician. I had to give up Chariot but didn’t loose too much OA thanks to the other boni on Harp’s skill. Before I was popping energy pots like crazy, but with Harp I never have to use any pots ever again.
Well, there’s energy regen with Elemental, Fire/Burn, Lightning/EC, Physical/IT, Piercing, Acid/Poison, and Bleed, in a variety of combinations.
Only vitality and chaos I can’t think of any.
But without cd Harp will not be used enough time.I tried it on my elemental Tactician and the results were bad. After that changed components to mark of illusions and augment to potent creed cunning,no mana potion addictiveness anymore.
What is the verdict on the rover talismans? Is that a valid stopgap measure, or did I already lose at that point?
You mean the relic from the quest?I use it sometimes for levelling, but even in early game you have better options and at end game it’s not even close.
