I’ve noticed a very strong tendency to get the same legendary few items (and their mythical versions too) as quest rewards over and over again. This has happened often enough that I suspect the pool of possible items is either very small or heavily weighted towards these common legendaries.
That’s nice, it works fine the first couple of characters - but after a while the rewards start to feel like winning company-logo goods at an office party. I guess Creed keeps the good stuff for himself.
Could the reward pool be randomized (if heavily weighted) or extended upward a bit (if restricted level-wise)?
The legendary reward pool is around 20 items if I’m not mistaken. It was kept smaller to prevent people from savescumming the quest to get every legendary in the game.
Personally, think that’s a really stupid decision as there are tons of other ways to scum legendary items and it just ends up punishing people playing the game “legitimately.”
If that was the reason to keep the pool small I can only say it seems kind of backwards given all the tools available - or possible, if the decision was made before such things existed.
If you’re talking about the reward from Creed for killing Log on Normal/Vet, it’s always a LVL50 legendary from the pool of ALL LVL50 legendaries in the game.
Considering that you get it around lvl40-50 it wouldn’t make sense to get higher level ones.
If you perceive it as a small pool, that’s because it’s a small pool (duh) but not because they are cherry picked a select few items but because it’s a reward capped by level and there’s not too much lvl50 legs (not that we need more anyway).
Latter quest reward pools are limited by 2 things AFAIK:
Item type - most of the quests reward accessories (jewelry & belts), but there are exeptions
Item level - you won’t get items much higher than your level (or where it should be around at given point, i.e. don’t expect lvl 94 stuff below Ultimate)
I never heard of an arpg where you can get much higher level items than your character level.
I might be uninformed though.
As for item types, the reason behind quests tend to reward accesiories (i think) is that jewelry is harder to get from regular loot since they can only drop from loot orbs and containers while weapons and armor can be wielded/worn by mobs too, increasing their chance to drop.
