Environmental Fertility Factor

Is there something that explains how to deal with this mechanic? Like when it’s 5%?

Seems impossible in that case to make farms even a bit useful.

watch some YouTube video. after some knowledge about the game, this game will be a joy to play.

clover and compost. It will bring it up to 100%

You have to prepare soil first before setting up a field. Set barn pasture on a desirable place and environmental fertility will go up. Although, 5% is waaaay too low for starters, and i would recommend using at least 50%.

Clover and compost have ZERO effect on environmental fertility. They only affect “normal” fertility, which is much less important than environmental fertility.

The two types of fertlity both limit production; however, while normal fertility is a soft cap in that you can use compost and the like to increase it, you are stuck with whatever environmental fertility you can find. 5% is useless, as you suspect. I tend to play on fertile maps, so never bother with a field with less than 90% environmental fertility. (Not because I don’t want the challenge of low fertility; it’s just that low fertility maps are bumpy maps, and I can’t stand the aesthetics of building on bumpy maps!)
