I’m relatively new to the community, as I just purchased the game a month or so ago. However, I see that the game was actually announced as early as 2010 and started production in 2012 with an alpha release in 2013. Many of you have been a part of the community for years and have a better understanding of Crate’s methods, timelines, as well as potentially more candid contact with them.
Therefore, I would like to know what some educated guesses are on the release of the upcoming expansion. Do you think we are looking at early 2017? Middle of the year? Toward the end? Never, and we’re just being trolled?
“As I’m sure the first question on everybody’s mind is just when will you get to experience it all for yourself? We are not quite at a point where we can announce an exact release date, but the current range puts us in Q1/Q2 of 2017. No matter when it releases, you can be sure that it will arrive posthaste.”
If it’s on schedule they’ll let us know nearer release date, if something looks like putting it badly off course they’ll tell us that too. So far the latter hasn’t happened.
Crate has a good relationship with the game’s fan base and always has. So no need for educated guesses or anything else. We’ll know when they feel the expansion is nearly ready for release because they’ll tell us. Simples.
Solid points; that’s why I asked, as I don’t have as much history seeing updates come out to know whether Crate is on schedule or typically behind a bit. Definitely good to hear!
actually i’m more interested in 1.0.0.7 hfx 3 release but if i’d have to bet i’d say Q2. devs generally take their time to refine the content before release, so while their estimation are generally accurate (which wasn’t much the case at the beginning, august 2013 anyone ? :D), it generally falls in the end of the spectrum.
As pointed by other people, I also expect Q1/Q2 of 2017.
Do you guys think/know if the expansion will have early access or beta for us? If it’s a separate launcher like Titan Quest and TQ: Immortal Throne I guess it’s possible, but if it’s downloaded like Crucible I am not so sure.
i hope they dont rush the release so they can bring out a properly fleshed out product, it takes time to master the skills of a cook you know and all his recipe and cuisine stuff… so even they release it at the end of the year idont mind
I don’t think so. The original game was in alpha for so long because it kept expanding, growing, changing, etc. Zantai said early on the original plan was essentially just a fairly small one act game and here we’ve ended up with 4. The expansion will be a 5th act, same as TQIT was the 4th Act for TQ. You’ll need the original GD to play it so I think it’ll be the same as any other update/DLC. The devs will work on it until they decide they’ve got it how they want it to be, it’ll be playtested for a little while and if everything’s okay it’ll be released. There’s no other way to distribute it except as a download as GD is only available in this format.
