My town is getting pretty big and its time to start mining. However, I don’t see any resources in the area that has been explored. I’ve been building dirt roads to nowhere in an effort to randomly find resources. Is there a better way? If nothing else, one would think the town could hire someone to scout the area or something to that effect.
Available resources on map depends on map type, so some may be missed.
Also, can use App to find out resources on map -

Select a villager and right click to give them a move order. Or press e to set an exploration flag.

Thanks, that was helpful. Not sure why I didn’t see that as an option. That being said, it would still be nice to add a cartographer and or explorer/surveyor to the game with a mini-map pop up or something.

I like to harvest trees at the fog of war boundary so that villages will slowly open up the area and bring back wood to the village.
Tip: if the exploration flag won’t “take” Edward then it’s either beyond the map limit or it’s a lake (or unreachable island within a lake).
