Exploring the restricted

There should be multiple ways on how to visit those restricted places like:

Anasteria Boss from Fort Ikon Prison,
Scorv Egdenor - Celar Entrance from Barrowholm Rift,
Sharanatu, Harbinger of the Void - Hidden Room from Tomb of Korvaak,
Hidden side quests paths that you can only visit in Ultimate,

I am an explorer and i like to see those aswell even if i am friend with them or joining the oposite faction, i do know that this its posible if i do another play with a new char but not this its the point, i like to have more options to do them and not to be restricted.

Examples:

Anasteria Boss from Fort Ikon Prison,
There will be a dialogue for a chalange fight with her and just let you pass the blocked door and fight here.

Scorv Egdenor - Celar Entrance from Barrowholm Rift,
There should be a side quest for the celar key, a npc who stolen the key already from Scorv Egdenor and will give it to you as reward for finishing his side quest, another example for it will be a random drop from a random boss or mob.

Sharanatu, Harbinger of the Void - Hidden Room from Tomb of Korvaak,
I havent already made this quest and i dont really know what its about so i dont really know anything about it or what ideea i should give for it but there are alot of things you can do to visit this place also and i bet someone have an axample for it aswell.

Hidden side quests paths that you can only visit in Ultimate,
I like to see them working in normal/elite aswell, like Arcturus hidden place and Aetherial Rift near Malmouth Shrine, the drop reward for those quests should be diferent on each dificulty.

The ideea its dont block the map exploration and let the player explore those hidden places aswell even if they are on normal/elite or oposite faction.

Hate to break it to ya but the chances of any of these “alternatives” occurring is exceedingly… low. To give you an example of ‘why’, we can reach back to the Kickstarter to shine some illumination on why I don’t see this happening. One paragraph sums it up nicely for us…

Grim Dawn won’t hold your hand to ensure you never make a bad decision and it won’t feature a story on rails with linear level design to prevent you from ever getting lost. It will, however, offer you the chance to do things in your own way, have an experience that is unique from everyone else playing the game and explore off the beaten path to see and do things that not every player is likely to find.

That was in 2012 and here now almost to 2018 I do believe their philosophy on the matter in regards to GD is, more or less, the same.

Hi there, and thanks for the quote, i do have something to say about it aswell.

About “Grim Dawn won’t hold your hand to ensure you never make a bad decision”
This its more about forcing you to go left or right and there its no middle option for it.

About “have an experience that is unique from everyone else playing the game and explore off the beaten path to see and do things that not every player is likely to find.”
This will actualy add to the exploration experience and new ways of aprocing the quests or areas on every dificulty and not be restricted and playable only on Ultimate or oposite Faction, dificulty restriction for quests i understand it but dont do it for the map because we like to explore it, if there its a room or hiden place i just want to go there and see what its behind that door without to betray my friends and here it comes the middle options what i mentioned above and not just go left or right.

The quests in Ultimate are there specifically as a reward for players who do go all the way in to Ultimate. I can say with 99.9% certainty there is no way this is going to change, for any reason. Crate definitely designed them specifically for Ultimate and don’t want anyone not in Ultimate ‘accidentally’ stumbling on to it.

As i said i understand that for quests but not for the map, for example on normal/elite leave the area open but dont add the option to trigger the quest and his reward for example, but yah maybe we will never see that as you said above but i do have hope in Crate ;)

Those quests need to be done in specific ways/steps to even access the areas. They have no desire for anyone that isn’t doing the quest, in Ultimate, to be able have any kind of ‘bypass’ to discover these areas. The actual quests are what get you in to these areas, any bypass (even if for mere ‘sight-seeing’ purposes) makes the quests pointless.

I don’t mean to crush your dreams but I feel I know Crate’s (Zantai’s for sure) mindset well enough to say there is no way he is going to budge on it. He takes these particular quests quite seriously.

This and it’s fine secret quests to be restricted to Ultimate, it’s a nice way of rewarding dedicated players

Going for or against Anasteria or Scorv is about making choices, that’s what the devs wanted you to have to do. You can always choose differently in the next difficulty. As for the super secret quests, yes they are a reward for players who make it into Ultimate. Not everyone will want to do them, but they’re there if they do. What you suggest would just wipe out the whole point of having those choices in the first place.

The devs aren’t blocking exploration, simply limiting some areas to higher difficulties. Think of all this as an incentive for you to make it into Ultimate so you can do those areas you can’t reach in Normal and Elite. Because that’s the only way you’re going to be able to do them.

A third way choice will be a choice aswell i think

Yes i do get it for the ultra hiden quests, but atleast they should remove the actual maps from normal/elite because its anoying that i cant go there…i wasted like 2 days searching around Gloomwald Crossing Rift to find clues on how to get inside Arcturus Secret Area after i finished the quest with Nane Stash, later on i found a thread and i just found out that i can do it only in ultimate, my opinion its if you cant play the content in normal/elite the maps/npc should be removed from there, im just saying if its exlusive for Ultimate then do the maps and the rest just for Ultimate, this its not a big deal but i dont really want to see something like this in the future because this apply only for the Expansion Ashes of Malmouth.

For others inaccesible maps from factions i still think there should be a third way, because even if i want to go to Kymon’s Secret - Hidden room in Tomb of Korvaak i cant because they dont accept Necromancer in the faction, well they can but you will have to play with 1 class untill you end ultimate 2nd act and thats not a good thing to do.

Why should they? Those quests are different in Normal and Elite, but they’re stlll quests and people earn rewards for completing them. If you removed them in those, you’d just make the quests even more exclusive because they could only be done in Ultimate and that’s not the case now.

As for Kymon’s Chosen, there are plenty of classes you can play that will allow you to access the hidden room so no need for a third option when you have - let’s see - 21 others!

Plus there is a way to be a Necromancer AND be in Kymon’s… You just need to be a clever lil monkey… with a touch of foresight.

It’s called choices and consequences of making those choices. If you could explore stuff that was blocked off to you because you chose the other things, what’s the point of choices to begin with, then?
