Eye of Reckoning or Retaliation?

I recently started playing Grim Dawn again and decided to go with a Warlord because I like its simplicity. But I have a hard time trying to decide between a sword ‘n’ board retaliation tank with default attack replacers or Eye of Reckoning.

What are the pros and cons of both playstyles? Which one is easier to gear for and will get me further as a beginner?

Retaliation
pros :

  • You could afk and still kill mobs
  • Usually very tanky

cons :

  • You would definitely want to afk because it took years to kill bosses
  • The good stuff available very late game
  • One of the worst meme build around

Eye of Reckoning
pros :

  • Character goes wrrrrr
  • Beyblade reference
  • Potentially JoJo Reference, too ([ s p i n ])
  • The damage is actually good for both clearing and single target
  • Could works with dual wield or 2h
  • One of the best build to use Speedhack and blaze through the game

cons :

  • You inflicted terrible dizziness to your character
  • The game might felt slightly boring because you just press left-click from start to finish without any requirement of brain activity

All in all, I honestly recommend Eye of Reckoning. You could adds Retaliation in your EoR late in the game. but for leveling, EoR is godly.

oh makes sure to NOT max EoR early on, because it’s pretty mana hungry. max Soulfire first (the node enchancer thingy). And remember, respec skills and devotion is very cheap for the first few hundreds.
