-Fabius Nemesis Farming Guide-

Getting into the flow of things in Grim Dawn can be, as many of us know, at times, hard. The game has for me since I started playing been shrouded in mystery, from the game lore to the more gameplay oriented mechanics. This and the fact that much information outside of the game guides is hard to come by. Such as detailed late game farming guides, this of course only adding to the overall mystery of the game. However, I feel that I might want to relieve some of the less adept players of the struggle of figuring out the best late game farming strategies, if this is something they themselves do not want to figure out on their own.

Getting started I want to clarify that this is the farming method that I myself has found to be the most efficient but at solo play and especially multiplayer. It does, however, require a bit of work before you can get started on the farming, but I will go into further detail surrounding that shortly. Either way, haha, enough beating around the bush.

This is as you might have figured out from the title a guide on farming the Cronley’s Gang Nemesis Fabius.
Starting with the routing that I have found the most efficient.

Detailed Routing Guide.

Starting in Devil’s Crossing work your way over the bridge, go into the Arkovian Foothills and head into the area where Edmund “Shanks” Doyle can be found. From here you can either warp to the Arkovian Foothills rift or walk, I do suggest warping. When at the rift head northwest and enter the area directly north of the rift. If Fabius is not found here then warp to the old Arkovia rift and head directly to the Hanneffy Mine. When in the mine head south into the area where Halion “The Rat” can be found. Keep going north over the ramp and exit the mine at the north exit into the Four Hills area. Here you head firstly to the area where Boris, Master of the Pit can be found. Afterward, head back up from where you came and go towards Cronley’s Hideout following the illustrations, given below. From here you just head semi straight for the boss room hugging the south wall but not going down into the pit. For further information look up the illustrations down below.

Fabius, will spawn at one of the locations marked in the pictures in the spoiler down below. He will respawn at a new location every time the session is restarted, ie. quitting to the main menu. Dying, warping and so on does not change the location of the nemesis. Do be warned, Fabius is known for being a hard fight, especially early in the late game, for this reason, I suggest either joining forces with someone else, in their session or hosting your own for much-needed help online.

Farming Results

The following items have been acquired mainly by farming Fabius and are all, as you can see, Legendaries, in other words, I find this farming method satisfactory and hope that you feel the same. http://imgur.com/a/PKUmk

Nice little write up for the noobies around! Fabius is definitely one of the better farming methods and it doesn’t require skeleton keys or blowing up millions of troves :stuck_out_tongue:

I would suggest adding this as a possible route. Start in Arkovian Foothills and check the spot up the hill at the little Cronley camp, port back to foothills and run to crumbling watch. At crumbling watch we we will run into Moosilake not terribly often but a decent percent of the time, then we run through spined cove and upon exit run to the base where Shanks is. If you are like me then you never have enough ectoplasm for fucking skeleton keys and this is good way to nab some as there is a ton of ghosts in there, plus we get a guarenteed boss in the cove as well as 4-5 aether crystals on the way to the watch if we happen to need them.

I will look into it, I am not certain how much this will add on to the total run time but it could be a good idea to add too. However, the run I am doing currently takes an average time of about 4 minutes solely depending on whenever or not you are lucky with the spawns (having another guy doing the run in reverse order does help out in this regard.)

I find the information about Fabius’s resistances to be a little bit unreliable.
He seems to have a very high resistance vs Freezing and Lifesteal, and Chaos & Vitality damage users don’t really have an edge in the fight vs Fabius.
It would be nice if you could include some of his main attacks and damage types that he uses.
Personally vs Fabius I prioritize my defense in the following order Physical resist>DA>Armor &Armor Absorption>HP>Hp regen&Burst Heal> some circuit breakers etc
Being able to avoid crtitcal hits from him is very important.

Will definitely take note of this guide. Thank you!

Btw, I’m just wondering if you are farming Fabius on ultimate or on elite?

Yeah, Ophion literally just went into Fabius’s file and pulled his base resistances without doing any additional background searching.

^ What exactly are the Ultimate and Elite resistance modifiers on trash mobs/heroes?
Last time I tested with the training dummy in Devil’s Crossing with OFF damage and I believe those numbers are 15% and 25% (+cold resistance) for Elite and Ultimate, respectively.

Throwing this in as a correction then, thank you

I will go into the attacks when i have the time. However, he uses basic nightblade attacks such as shadow strike (an annoying skill to be up against for sure, being invisivble and all) and a fair few more. He is heavily damage orientated without a doubt, hench the 1000% knockdown duration negation for increased agressiveness (i have never seen him not going all out on mindless offense) surely a hard guy to get a good distance on.

I don’t actually know. I heard from someone that Ultimate gives enemies +40% to everything except Physical. No idea as to the veracity of that statement.

Is this guide still up to valid? What’s a solid kill timer for this guy?

What is Fabius’s lightning res? I see all but that one enumerated…

I’m actually gathering new stats and creating new images for patch 1.0.7.1
I think there is some spawn locations outdated (haven’t seen Fabius spawning there yet)
I also modified the original route to be more efficient

I’ll be posting my results at the end of the week

https://www.grimtools.com/map/monsters/1158 <- spawn areas, are up to date. Confirmed by me. :stuck_out_tongue:

https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/1158/skills <- info about Fabius.

Yep you are right. I just didn’t see some spawn locations until now. I’ll still post my results soon for a more efficient way to do Fabius runs. I added small dots on map where Fabius could be detected without reaching the actual locations. You can now warp faster to next locations. With that information, I managed to time each possible runs and divide each (micro) runs by the number of spawn locations each run could rule out. Then I chose to do the most efficient micro runs first to get the most efficient possible route. Here is the route is use at the moment :

  1. Warp to Four hills (Cronley’s Hideout). DON’T DO CRONLEY’S NOW. Head north to Old Arkovia (1st map linked). Warp at white circle to Arkovian Foothills
  2. Arkovian Foothills (see image)
  3. Devil’s Crossing
  4. Hannefy Mine
  5. Cronley’s Hideout

Note that I’m usually walking with the map open all the time. This way I can easily see the white skull appearing on my map and walk directly to Fabius when I see him spawn

P.S.: I’ll probably post another thread and quote this one when I’ll be done gathering all information
