Very annoying watching deer eat a farm, as a farmer walks past with out a care in the world.
Surely, you could arm a few farmers as an extra defence. They should at least shoo them away.

Check your fence gates. Apart from raiders when they shut automatically I’m thinking that since they can be rotated if you put them in the wrong way (is there a wrong way?) then deer can walk through them as if they were open.
I don’t always fence off my farms like I should, or my farms are close to the settlements and the deer’s can sneak in.
Yes, I know I should fence them off, but can the farmers help me out as well.
Farmers will not help get rid of deer. However, you can select a hunter to kill a particular deer on your map.
It’s best just to fence in your farms. And if a deer gets stuck in your farm after all the fences are built, the only way you get rid of it then is to assign a hunter to kill it.

Yeah, that is how I do it. I just thought it would be a nice change if farmers could do it as well.
