I’ve recently gotten my first character to 100, and I’m trying to farm the Sentinel of the Three set. I’m looking at the set in Grimtools, and it says “Forgotten Gods” at the bottom. Does this mean this item can only be acquired in Forgotten Gods content? Or that I simply need to have the Forgotten Gods expansion to be able to acquire it?
No, just that you need the Forgotten Gods expansion to be able to find it. It could drop anywhere in the game, not just in FG content.

You can also get this from the celestial vendor, Algosia Fald, in the Tomb of Nephos.
These are special vendors throughout Cairn in various places that allow you to gamble a certain amount of mats for a random legendary category (weapon, armor, amulet, etc. can’t remember them exactly.) They are completely random but it gives you the ability to slightly ‘target’ your farming when you’re looking for something particular.
And if memory serves, this particular celestial IS the only one you can get the Forgotten Gods content. The other random ones from previous DLCs only give you up to that current DLC. (I may be wrong about this so someone correct me if I am.)
