I know that we’re getting an update to main menu in FoA
Not sure if it includes what I’m about to ask, but it would be so much QoL:
Please let us have a text filter for character selection.
As of right now, switching between characters takes time (I have more than a dozen, and they don’t all fit in the list, have to mouse scroll). And even playing hardcore, I only keep getting more characters. So at least the basic text filter (by the nickname) would be great. The same way we can filter stashes and blacksmith menus.
Taking a bit further, it would be great to have toggles / checkmarks for masteries. So we could let’s say only show characters that have Shaman mastery. Though I understand it might be more costly to implement compared to text filter.
Another thing I’d really like on top of this is the ability to see the mastery tabs and/or equipment without having to load in fully, so I can see what skills I have on those guys. I always forget what I was going for
Yeah, it doesn’t help that I repurpose them sometimes because the build I was going for with that particular guy is not something I want to do anymore. So now I have a guy called something-lightning who does fire damage, etc.
lol i have poor memory & too many alts. I redid them all with names like dom OccNec. So i know what mod they were for & what classes. I want a way to hard lock them to a mod so I dont break them by accident. Another suggestion way back yonder was to be able to attach a note to each char on the main menu & you could put whatever you want on that note. Your goals etc. Would a text search be able to search your notes?
I do understand the utility, but for me it gets in a way of feeling the character.
Can’t say I’m heavy on RP, but for some reason in GD I do at least somewhat care about having a character with an actual name. The character that could exist in that universe.
For now I still remember that Liet is a korba trickster, Gestalt is a batllemage elemental gunslinger, Redshift (yeah I know) is a Bysmiel Conjurer and Zepho is a cold shadow strike trickster. But Empyrion help remember this shit two years later when I have 10+ more.
Last year I extensively played Satisfactory and when placing new train stations I decided to go for creative location names instead of a functional “production target” names. It went well for the time I played because I binged 450+ hours in a few months and I had strong context retention.
But when I came back to that save month later and wanted to show my friend some factories I made, I was like “what the fuck is Meltown producing and where is it even located?!?”
Yeah fun times.
Anyways, the day I create DW aether melee Death Knight you know for sure my account was hacked and I was stolen by a̶l̶i̶e̶n̶s̶ aetherials.
(BTW did you know you can have whitespaces in character names?)
you misunderstand, that wasn’t me making any excuse or argument for the current limited char menu, just a “this is how it looks when you give in to swizz cheese memory”
I used to give all my chars real name, because i very much prefer so, aesthetically and or RP etc
but it’s become almost impossible for me to keep track of who’s who and which does what, sans spreadsheet (which is then its own headache to keep track of), so it’s more me making a joke as a/Bas’ fellow “comrade in dementia”
No in fact I didn’t. My response to your response was mostly a chit-chat, not getting into an imaginable argument about character name conventions, lol
