[Feedback] Blade Arc Death Knight

This is only the second character I’ve got to 100, the build feels good but wanted to see if there’s some gear pieces I could hunt down or if some assumptions I’ve made are correct.

Does the resistance shred on spectral wrath, assassin’s mark, and the black matriarch ring stack? I’m assuming they do and it’s the main reason I’m running that ring.

How important is that resistance shred for a physical build? I also have the armor debuff on maul, but I’m not sure how these interact. I’m assuming maul is pretty important since it’s the only source of it that I found.

Currently I have the cursebearer ring and I’m hoping to find a mythical version of it, but is there another ring that would be good for the build that I’m not aware of?

I’ve tried to overcap my resistances by ~30% is this enough for the harder content? I’ve done shard 20 for the quest, but want to push further once I wrap up the last act on ultimate.

The korvan casque and celestial halberd gives me a lot of trauma damage, but I’m losing out on the 5th bonus of the krieg set which would add more flat damage to blade arc. I made this decision based on the tooltip. Other games have taught me to not trust the tooltip. I’m wondering if my focus on crit damage means I should take all the flat damage I can get (I’m assuming trauma damage cannot crit).

Beyond these questions, are there any gear pieces or sets that would be good for this sort of build? I mostly went with krieg and the MI’s because I could target farm them.

TY

Spectral Wrath and Assasin’s Mark and other sources of resistance reduction do stack. If you have “X reduced target’s resistance”, that doesn’t stack, and only highest applies.

Damage over time can crit, you can see it in the damage numbers.

According to the game guide, resistance applies before armor. Which makes physical resistance extremely good, and reducing it is also extremely good.

I would take 18 points from Necromancer, and dump them into the Soldier passives. It’s not like you need more life.

Bloodrager Set maybe; but Krieg is quite decent as well. Maybe a gladiators distinction belt for the vitality>phys and then you can utilize Soul harvest for additional flat. But overall looks like pretty decent, good job.

Edit: welcome to game and forum.

Is there a rough health number people shoot for? I had 29k, but as my gear got sorted I started using damage components which dropped me down to 25k.

Thanks for the hint about the game guide, I didn’t think it would be so detailed.

Basically as high as you can get it without sacrificing other more important stats; 25k is quite fine :joy:. I have chars that have as little as 15k; it all depends on the build.

My last two characters were running around Ultimate campaign with 12k. One was a Spellbreaker, the other a Witchhunter. I think as long as you’re above 20k, you are good.

but weapon already has vit to phys conversion

My suggestion would be to invest in soul harvest with the gear as it is, and shuffle around phys and cunning to get higher DA.

Change cursebearer ring to a Cronley ring, and change relic to doom (more attack speed)

Devotions: bind assassins mark to blade arc, remove last two points in berserker and complete dire bear (then you can change component in gloves for concecrated wrappings = more attack speed) and the last point you put in azraaka for +80% phys damage? And I would take eel instead of lizard because you do not have that high focus on life regen

Vit to Phys only applies for blade arc in this case. In case of using soul harvest, it will only be converted by using eg gladiators distinction (global conversion)

soul harvest will get converted on every blade arc hit, since it’s spam blade arc build, that’s probably basically sufficient without the need of gladiator belt

But blade arc uses that flat damage from soul harvest so…

Ah thanks both for the correction and sorry in that case for the wrong info earlier, I didn’t know! We still keep on learning…

Thanks for all the ideas here. I’ve pushed up to shard 29 and it seems I can keep going. I haven’t died yet and always have ~6 ish minutes left. I re allocated my attributes to get as much cunning as possible and shifted some devotions so I could fit in turtle (had to drop berserker and lizard) which has allowed me to keep face tanking bosses.

Soul harvest was a good call out, I didn’t realize bone harvest had a buff down the line. I also missed cronley’s ring somehow, I’m going to add him to my farm route.

This game is pretty sick. The targeting on controller is pretty good, blade arc feels so satisfying to use, having circuit breakers makes these types of games much more enjoyable, and I love the animation on vire’s might (also cc’ing ranged guys is so helpful as a melee).
