[Feedback] Dawnseeker's Counter Strike bonuses

People don’t really use Counterstrike for any of their builds, only when they play retaliation builds or just add one point into it because it looks cool when you’re being hit (or some other bad reason). Dawnseeker’s set is mainly (or only) used by retaliation builds, so the lightning damage bonus could/should be swapped to lightning damage retaliation instead, in both, the set completion bonus and the shield.

Flat lightning damage from item pieces could also be changed to something else, for example slightly more lightning damage retaliation or bonus to retaliation damage (percentage).

CS is used on bleed soldiers and Blood Knight DKs. It’s not that bad. Tho agreed that Dawnseeker is shit.

I actually didn’t mean to call CS bad, just the lightning damage bonus to it, this is bad.

For now it’s not any reason to conversate about any item set with retaliation bonuses
We all know that retaliation will shine in FG
For now it’s a wise decision just don’t touch any retaliation set or items

Retaliation will be better in FG, but that doesn’t mean retaliation damage % applies to flat on-hit damage, like lightning damage period, physical damage period. % Retatliation damage applies only to retaliation damage, while % damage only to X damage - those are two different stats.

And stopped reading.

Uhm… It’s still a retaliation build, though. You have more retaliation damage than normal damage. Yes, you did focus on Counter Strike, but again, it’s a rather retaliation build.

~800% lightning damage vs. 760% all retaliation damage. Just saying.

Except the Retaliation does not have any impact. It’d be nice if the Dawnseeker pieces got % Lightning Damage, like the Shoulders have, but it’d be a harsh nerf to the build to move everything to Retaliation.

How’s this one for size then? :stuck_out_tongue:

There are a few non-Retaliation Counter Strikers out there.

I guess someone is forgetting that Vitality Counter Strike Blood Knight Death Knight exists.

I am talking about the Dawnseeker set, not Counter strike… You guys basically ignored the main point of this thread…

Definitely a reason to include some part of your title in the actual post itself so that the context is clear. Rarely, do I recall the title of the thread/post, much less see it, when I open the post to read.

People really need to do this to help reduce misunderstandings.

Well we know Counter Strike is receiving the new Retaliation stat in FG so Dawnseeker may see some significant changes to turn it from a hybrid Retaliator to a full Retaliator when it rolls around.

But for now, the bonus is there because if it didn’t have the bonuses to Counter Strike/% Lightning damage, you’d be even more screwed on non-Melee enemies which is saying something as that is currently one of Retaliation’s biggest problems.

The 4 - 5k damage (after applying % lightning damage) will not do literally anything if you have low OA, which happens in most of my builds that use retaliation, and, I believe, other people who build full retaliation also don’t look at OA. But even though, 4 - 5k every 0.4 second with a chance on activation can even be a 2k bonus per hit, and monsters don’t usually have 5k HP, right? This doesn’t help at all, if it was on-hit with your attacks, yeah, it’d be helpful. Also, retaliation will be applied on attacks in FG, so they can change the flat damage to retaliation and push it in FG (which will be our next patch anyway).

Damage would be closer to or above 10k after RR applies for starters and in an AoE.

My point was that without Retaliation added to damage (which has not existed for longer than a year whereas Dawnseeker has), builds that want to use it would have an even harder time with ranged enemies than they do now, they may even be literally impossible to kill otherwise if the bonuses were not there to begin with.

Retaliators need as much conventional damage as they can get their hands on between procs like Counter Strike, the Avenger’s relic or devotion procs like Spear of the Heavens as Reflect can not be relied on by itself (or much at all). This will certainly change in Forgotten Gods but that is not here yet.
