Feedback on vitality devotion build

Currently, vitality resistance reduction (RR) in the big constellation of Rattosh (the Veilwarden) greatly limits the flexibility of devotion point allocation for vitality builds. It’s recommended to put vitality RR on Wendigo or Ghoul or Huntress.

Limits in what way? You can get rattosh, abomination and dying god all at once

You didn’t understand what I meant by flexibility. Does it have to be just one kind of vitality devotion build? For example, I want to get Revenant, Korvaak, Dying God, and Rattosh—do you have a way to do that?

Devotion paths are balanced around what each damage type naturally has access to.

Aether and Lightning get Widow at Tier 2 because their native masteries have lower, more restricted RR. Vitality gets Rattosh at Tier 3 precisely because Vitality builds have effortless access to -90% to -120% RR straight from mastery trees alone, coupled with insane sustain through ADCtH.

Putting stackable -% RR onto Ghoul—a 5-point universal survival constellation—or Wendigo would make them 100% mandatory on literally every vitality build, which does the exact opposite of improving ‘flexibility’ tbh.

but why should you get that?
“i want” a lot of stuff, doesn’t mean i get it or should get it

Sort of.

That’s kind of how devotions currently work. Most builds, for every damage type, tend to be similar due to the singular nature of things like RR procs and T3 support.

Very few damage types have any flexibility at all, especially if you’re going for “Optimal” paths.

It’s why I really hate RR as a thing. It drives a lot of devotion builds (It’s also a limiting factor for multi-damage type builds that have a harder time getting multiple RR devos plus everything else they might want)

  1. Vitality also has higher resistances across the board.

  2. Much of this “Effortless access” is tied directly to Shaman. Other Masteries don’t have extra large Vit RR.

One could also make a point about Bleed. Not only is Bleed the least resisted damage type (Outside of undead) but it also gets “Effortless access” to 70%+ RR from masteries as sources of it tend to be higher than average. Yet it still has a T2 devo for its RR.

As far as my take on Rattosh… I think it’s generally fine as T3. The only thing I find a bit odd is the 6 Yellow requirement which is awkward when, besides the singular proc effect of Scales (No other nodes in the constellation), all other Vitality devotions don’t use that at all. Instead being Red/Green/Blue (With a splash of Purple for Affliction)

Could possibly change that Yellow requirement for something else that more naturally fits with the rest of what Vitality wants to pick up (It could also make it easier for Aether builds to pick it up too as it does provide Aether damage on the nodes)

I have tried that. It is very hard to do that.

hard? what do you mean by that?

Means that devotion points is not enough to get rattosh, abomination and dying god all at once.
Get Revenant, rattosh, abomination and dying god all at once. You mean you have solutions?

There are enough points to do that.

You don’t need revenant on every vitality build. It’s not as important as the other 3, which you can get no problem

sources of flat RR are quite abundant and you only need one of those

You provide a good example. But vitality builds always have not point RR, making Revenant Indispensable.

Btw, has anyone managed to get rattosh, ishtak and tree of life? I really want rattosh for vitality pet build here, especially for ritualist where I can tank attacks but not get hit often by ishtak and my pet becomes tankier due to tree of life.

I can sort of see one setup where it might be worth testing (though I am sure the damage is going to be low) - Diviner’s vitality :ghost: pet build.

Pet build without Shepherd’s Call? Oh no…

I would prefer Vitality RR on Rend since Vitality and Bleed damage usually come together. Moving Will of Rattosh to the 3rd or 4th star would also be nice. Reducing Vitality RR from Devouring Swarm but making it easier to get via constellations could be a good idea.
