[Feedback] Servitor's Corruptor and Chaos Melee

Chaos Melee isn’t weak but it’s stale when compared to Aether or anything else which have a lot more options (except Pierce which is in worse shape than Chaos in terms of diversity:D)

1. Servitor’s Corruptor-

-In terms of diversity Aether Melee is in a much better place when compared to Chaos Melee.
Servitor’s Corruptor doesn’t exactly help with the problem
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/8408

-The 100% Chaos Cadence skill mod on that is redundant especially considering 99.9% Chaos Cadence builds would go for Mythical Voidsteel Gauntlets which has a similar skill mod
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/9112

-Recently you guys removed the doom bolt skill mod from Galgabor’s Corruption since it didn’t do much good as we already have Bloodsworn Medal for Fire based Doom Bolt
I hope you guys consider doing the same for Servitor’s Corruptor and remove the Chaos Skill mod for Cadence all-together

-Now removing it isn’t enough though as we still want more diversity for Chaos builds.
The obvious thought is to add a chaos based auto-attacker BUT I think it’d do us a lot of good if a more innovative approach is taken

-Instead of an auto-attacker, a powerful nuker similar to Scourge Strike should be added to the weapon.

With a few modifications to the stats of course

-Re-textured Lethal Assault Icon as the skill icon (Not ABB but Lethal Assault)
-100% Physical to Chaos instead of 50% Physical to Cold (since we already have 100% Physical conversion, it’d be best if we reduce flat damage a little)
-265-435 Chaos Damage
-125 Vitality damage
-15% Attack Damage converted to Health
-2.1 second skill recharge

-Since the Scourge Strike template already exists and is pretty strong I decided to recommend that instead of requesting to make a new one.
This helps a lot with build diversity as we already have plenty of auto-attackers at the moment.

2. Non-Occultist Chaos Builds-
-Servitor’s Corruptor isn’t the only thing wrong about Chaos Melee. It’s the mastery called the Occultist. There’s nothing wrong going with Occultist for Chaos as that’s intended. Problem is 99.9% Chaos Melee builds go with Occultist and therefore Inquisitor is heavily overlooked as Chaos Support Mastery (there also exists Demolitionist but Mines are much more clunky and it lacks %Damage to Chthonians of Steel Resolve)

-My solution is to add more items to enhance Inquisitor’s Chaos Potential. A Chaos based shield for Chaos Tactician would be a great addition as the state of Chaos Melee is very stale at the moment with extremely limited gearing options

-Similarly other existing items like Tainted Ruby Gar’dal should give %Chaos bonus to Word Renewal through skill mods
My point is non-Occultist Chaos Melee should be promoted. I am not saying it isn’t possible atm but it is in a very poor state
3. Conversion to Chaos (This is more about Chaos itemization and less about the Title)-

For the record “Aether damage converted to ‘x’ damage” seems to have been done plenty of time at this point and I personally do not think we need more of it. So it’d be great to NOT get anymore Aether>Chaos conversions (not even through skill mods, Chaos CT skill mod seems to suffice)
I say this cause anything Aether related inevitably ends with Devastation builds and quite frankly I am not sure how being able to cast Devastation on 12 different builds adds to build diversity

It’d be great if other types of conversion are given a chance to shine.
-Vitality to Chaos conversion from sources besides Bloodsworn Scepter (OR increase the conversion value on it)
-Items with Pierce to Chaos conversion (besides Fang of Chthon of course)
-Elemental to Chaos conversion on things besides the Blood Orb would be appreciated
-Skill mods for Chaos Bone Harvest, Chaos Mortar Trap and Chaos Rune of Hagaard would be great.

Great ideas, Chton.

I would add that some kind of elemental to chaos conversion item would open up a lot of possibilities for Inquisitor-based chaos builds.

I agree
I hope when they’re making items for Tainted Flame Ignaffar we get more Chaos based Inquisitor options

Great ideas all around.

I would love to see more support for different elements of damage and more skills added to the game from items.

Hopefully something is done for our beloved Chaos damage type :stuck_out_tongue:

I like these ideas. Hopefully developers will be able to give more love for Chaos damage type and add more options for damage types conversition to chaos.

Chthon, sorry but I can’t agree with you on this.

Making yet another devastation build is boooooooring. But why should we consider only this opportunity? If we get more universal aether damage to chaos damage conversitions, we will be able to consider wide varaty of chaos builds like lighting & chaos caster build based on Arcane Tempest set or lighting & chaos melee build using Mythical Temporal Arcblade.

P.S: Just try to clear your mind from standard/comom points of view and approaches and you will see new opportunities.

Hmm…pretty sure my statement said “ends with Devastation”

Of course there exist other avenues in need of exploration but quite frankly regardless how creative an individual may use certain conversions the masses would go with the easiest solution i.e Devastation. So again from the POV of build diversity (which goes beyond you and me) I don’t see what good it does to the game to be able to cast Devastation in 13 different ways. Even if either of us make use of Aether>Chaos creatively it won’t do squat for build diversity as at the end of the day to the majority it’d be just another Devastation

P.S

Arcane Tempest is very weak. It always has been since vanilla days
I didn’t try it after they added Crit damage to it but quite frankly it doesn’t look very impressive to me. To me Arcane Tempest has always been a devastation build :stuck_out_tongue:

Need to check if we really can’t create effective builds based on Arcane Tempest set. I like the granted skill concept.

To me Arcane Tempest has always been a devastation build” - just post thisand that links here. :stuck_out_tongue:

I made Arcane Storm work in base game but never posted it as the skill itself was never strong enough and the build was too reliant on Devastation. Since it cost me 4 Equipment slots to use the skill to maximum effectiveness I was very disappointment at the damage output. I didn’t make a feedback thread back then but made one when I realized that the Mythical versions damage output was almost equal to the granted skill of a single component - Seal of Skies.
I didn’t get the time to test it after they added Crit damage to it but Chain Lightning alone is too weak and needs Devastation/Skyfire Grenado to be efficient

Chthon, do I understand correct that “+15% Weapon Damage” in granted skill is not enough to make it more useful?

P.S: It is sad but granted skill from mythical set does not have any boost for “+ x% weapon damage”.

BTW, did you try to use Arcane Tempest set with Mythical Temporal Arcblade to test the damage the enemies will take from combination of Aether Lightning and Aether Conduit skills?

Wanted to do it but the problem is w/o TT Dagger you loose Aether>Lightning conversion so didn’t bother

Yeah the %WD Component is very weak. If the skill had innate life steal then it’d make sense to me but 15% WD might as well not exist

Thanks for feedbak! I sent you P.M. to continue the discussion outside this thread.

Is there a Vitality auto-attacker similar to Scourge Strike (since SS seems to be Cold based mainly)?

Scourge Strike works for both Cold and and Vitality (and anything else if you’re creative enough). Besides that only thing that comes to mind is Reaping Arc but it’s primarily there for Vitality Decay

For vitality you can also use Fire Strike using Conduit and Fleshwarped Strikes using conversion
If vitality needs anything else then it’s a skill mod for Vitality based Savagery

I love this.
When I saw the Ignaffar modifier and Word of Pain chaos res reduction, I immediately thought about making a Chaos based Deceiver, but there’s actually so little synergy between the two because the gear supporting that is lacking and the skillpoint investment is way too high for things like Word of Pain if you’re going Chaos main.
Blood Orb of Chthon is the only way to get all of that working but then you’re not melee anymore and you still lose a shit ton of damage to non converted dots.

Hopefully one of the new sets is focused on Chaos+melee, or just rework the Harbinger to support that playstyle.

Just scroll down a little and you’ll see it

Saw it.
By Chaos based Deceiver, I meant Chaos Ignaffar Deceiver initially. I’m not surprised dual wield Chaos melee Deceiver is doable even if Pyromancer would be my first idea. Currently running an Infernal Tremor Deceiver and it’s doing just fine.
Even then, there could be better support for Chaos melee(and meleecast) in general, having to circumvent that with 3-4 perfectly rolled greens to cover the lack of choice in synergistic items with appropriate res isn’t my favorite thing.
