Hi guys and girls!
The title is weird… and so are my thoughts on the evergoing mastery decisions i face each day.
I want to leave some feedback on the Inquisitor class and with it, some hits into some other directions.
This text might get long…
I am more of a casual type of player, somehow got up to 900hours.
This is my own opinion and you might agree and disagree with me, feel free to discuss!
The Inquisitor is op!?
I think, NO!
For me, personally, the Inquisitor is just the best designed class in terms of:
- easy to understand
- clear damage types/directions
- strong perma up buff, strong exclusives
- super strong temporary buff (deadly aim)
- optional range proccs (no active skills)
This class is wasy to understand. There are basically 3 damage types, all elemental based with options for some more, but they don’t matter in my feedback.
Fire Rune
Cold Rune
Lightning beam
Hybrid DOT
The inquisitor has a strong repertoire of skills and each has its strengths and weaknesses.
The Inquisitor for me is one of the few masteries that has its own “identity”.
Clear path, clear bonuses, no weird damage types MIXED IN those skills.
Fire is fire, cold is cold, lightning is lightning, basically (beside optional mutators).
The shaman as an opponent
Passive Range Possibilities…
Savagery:
Lightning, Electrocute, bleed, with physical boost
Primal Strike:
Physical with Lightning and Electrocute
Devouring Swarm:
Vitality, Bleeding
Wind Devil:
Physical, Lightning, Cold, Electrocute
Grasping Vines:
Physical, Blleeding
Totems:
Lightning & Vitality Options
Pets with Physical & Bleed
Exclusive skills with Lightning and Physical
Moderate Proccs and a good permanent Physical buff.
I think you might know now what directions this will take.
I think, some masteries need some more clear paths to chose from. I get, that the Shaman is a nature based class, but in my opinion its a bit too much.
When you take a look on the Demolitionist you get the “OOF effect” instantly.
Which new player feels satisfied when you see that messy skilltree?xD
The same thing goes for the Arcanist which is for me only a “buff class” to give me OA, spirit and Crit.
Aether, Fire, Lightning, Elemental Damage, Cold Damage. AAR deals Fire/Aether and lightning damage, leaves a lightning dot and can be converted into a Chaos/Vitality Ray.
I think the only reason for the Inquisitors popularity is simply the “complexity” and weird line-up of the other classes.
AND… I guess exactly the same thing happens with the Oathkeeper right now!
It is a first view we got today, i get it. This class looks like a gap filler. Straight Identity with Fire, Phsiyical and Traume damage aaaaaaand ,get this… 0 vitality/poison skills BUT, 2 skills have a conversion and one has chaos.
The Cooldown skill in the end has flat poison damage, Fire to Acid conversion.
I know, there will be sets and items that will do the rest and brings more or less the most skills into a line when it comes to “sense and usability”.
Don’t get me wrong, i love this game and i will allways play it, but sometimes i feel a bit confused with the path each class take or could take.
After seeing the Oathkeeper i can say… Inquisitor WILL KEEP its unique expirience offer and usability, it is simply the best overall package, not due to overpowered skills, but due to a clear identity.
It feels a bit difficult to put it into correct words… I hope you understand my feelings.
I don’t think this class is badly designed, i allready see some nice and funny interactions but… in the end?!
The inquisitor is only “op” cause it has a fluid gameplay, no long cooldowns and that he offers the player the clearest view of all classes.
That should be it for now… and, again… i truly love this game. It’s really amazing that like 98% of the skills are worth something and can deal some decent damage with the right combination.
I am really looking forward to the rest we will see soon and play!
TLDR:
- Inquisitor is not op.
- Builds are often built up cause easy and strict in offers
- fluid mechanics
Greetings!
