I read about Grim Down in a comment to a thread about Path of Exile. I decided to browse the game, company and community, and I’m thankful that your name was dropped! The intent and progress demonstrated by the Crate is encouraging. Between PoE and Grim Dawn, the genre has been rejuvenated for me; both games and their business models have stirred by interest. In particular, Crate’s honesty about the difficult process of creating an indie game, their digital distribution plans and their willingness to references others, such as Wolfire, does a lot to capture my attention.
I look forward to learning more about this game and community.
nice to see another member, as the list is certainly growing, the more that pre order, the better Crate will be, and with it the ability to add more over time
I just recently bought a second legendary key to show my support of this great indie company, but anyone wil pre orders will be helping
the ARPG genre has been in a bit of a mess, with only a few games worth of note, I have heard bad things about Dungeon siege 3, and it just seems that the genre in general is getting killed off by the big publishers
but I think GD will bring the genre back from the dark ages and really do some good
that money could have been better spent on Crate!!!
but anyway, the money spent for a legendary key really isn’t that much at all, even the standard edition is a steal, so totally worth it, especially as many full priced games are getting more of a rip off each year. I would have gone for a third key, but I think that could be overkill! still, two keys are worth it. So glad I can help them in some way, even if there is no donate button, but this way works just as well;)
Heh, don’t make me feel ashamed even more than I am. =)) Like it was not enough I am still re-thinking if I really needed to buy them all for that much and if it was not better to buy something more important to home or something. Ehm…
Anyway, I think the Legendary should cost more, it is really sooo low on price for such a product…
I would agree that the legendary should cost more, especially as it grants access to both the alpha and beta, wouldn’t have minded paying a bit extra, still two keys more then makes up for that
I’m looking forward to knowing more about this game. I want to make an informed (pre)purchase, so some information will be required; the game needs to fit. For example, I’d love to support Wolfire (I love the concept of Overgrowth), but the style of game that they’re making. Similarly, I’ll need to learn about Crate and GD. While my respect for the developer heavily influences the purchase, I need to be a fit for the product, too. I want to be supportive of indie games, but they are businesses that must be tactful to a point. Nonetheless, I have a good feeling so far, so I look forward to learning more.
Edit: alpha/beta access via special pre-purchase? Interesting. I’ll look into that possibility, too.
well I think its a good thing that Crate aren’t tied to any publisher, and I think they have utterly no plans on doing that in the foreseeable future
the different packages, legendary, epic and normal, determines if you can access the alphas and betas once they are available, legendary will give you access to the alpha and beta, epic, beta access, and normal the full game once released (so far that seems to be the version hardly anyone buys, most on the forum seems have have got the legendary edition, (at least from people’s signatures) some have got epic keys, (not sure how many)
but you can tell from the dev’s replies they are totally commented to this game and post support, plus will release modding tools as well
I personally have good feelings about Crate, I wouldn’t have bought a second key otherwise, but anyway, if you do support the game, go for it, as it will be money direct to the devs
Hello rise and welcome, we’re very glad to have your support!
Please, take your time and learn more about the game before you consider a pre-order. There is certainly no hurry.
Hah, I swear, you guys are too much sometimes. I’m amazed at how many people have elected to pay money for a game that doesn’t exist yet, let alone ordering multiple game keys. It is very encouraging, thank you matthew and everyone else!
I think its because, you as devs have posted a lot about the game, willing to make changes through user feedback, and more
getting sick of publishers ripping off the game industry and the average gamer, with constant title cash cows and sequels, which aren’t really adding anything new. Then lets not forget the fact the PC gaming market is shrinking, so nice to see a company dedicated to the PC market. I personally like to support the little guy, for me personally I don’t really buy that many games these days, I don’t like to support EA, as I have seen that publisher do a lot of damage over the years. I have beta tested a game for a company that was tied to a publisher (not EA) and the game was buggy as anything and the game once released was still pretty much in a beta state. more and more games are getting released before their time
I could go on, but I think I probably end up repeating myself over what I have previously said. But I have my reasons for not liking publishers or studios that have sold their soul to them.
I have bought a lot of indie titles over the years with no regrets, as I feel many make a better job of making a good game then many high paid studios with publisher funding. even though GD isn’t out yet, I do have good feelings about it and Crate. So yeah, Im happy to help in anyway I can. Just release the game once its good and ready and not a day before, as long as you do that, I think everyone will be happy.
anyway that is my two cents worth, Im sure other people may voice similar reasons or their own reasons for helping too support a game that isn’t out yet.
Keep up the good work you are clearly doing and can’t wait for the alpha!!!
(as I have bought two keys any chance of a expansion discount when they are ready?)
Yeah. =) I am even thinking of including my two daughters (2 months and 2 years old, hehe) in this, therefore buying another 2 copies…but I have to wait, I’ve spent too much money lately… =/
