Hello, I just bought the game and have been reading through the forums trying to gain a little knowledge before my first playthrough. I was wondering if its recommended to initially play unmodded or if i should start with mods initially? If mods are suggested initially, was looking at Grimarillion and was wondering if it would be suggested or others recommended for first time player? Thanks!
Persoanlly I don’t mess with mods. I’d play the game the way it was intended by the developers and not the I want it my way gamer.
I only ever messed with two mods in games:
Diablo 2 LoD don’t know the name but basicaly every drop was a unique drop, while amussing at first made game boring real fast.
Warcraft 3- basically was a 2v2 battle with each controlling one hero, didn’t have to build things or deal with upkeep. Monsters funneled from the top of scream and kept coming wave after wave till one side failed. This I liked alot cause I couldn’t get into RTS’s so it took a game I didn’t like and made it fun.
So to each is own- play the game in its orginal state if you like it I wouldn’t play someone elses idea, if you don’t then look into mods.
There was a basic mod, simply called “Drop Mod”, that inverted the loot table so the rarest items dropped most frequently. Yeah, was cool for about 30s. 
Pretty sure it’s always advisable with basically any game to play unmodded first. That way when you finally do get around to modding it you know what the hell is being modded and further you will have a better idea why you want to use certain mods when you do use them.
