Flat Damage or Percentage Damage Boost?

Normally, these go together on most items. Sometimes though, the difference is quite drastic. Take a look at this two items:

One item has +18 flat damage over the other. The other has +100% fire and better conversion. At least conversion is not a big issue since Blitz and Forcewave are fully converted to fire regardless. However, it does help improve the dps of Blazing Charge and Meteors by converting more damage to fire.

Yeah they’re both low rolls. I wish it was the chaos res that rolled low instead as I’m already sitting at 60%+ chaos overcap. I just completed a bunch of runs over several days where my farmer went from Despised to Nemesis for Ch’thonian running BoC without the help of a warrant. These are the only 2 Worldeaters I have to show for it and I’m pretty sick of BoC for now.

Higher conversion and fire% beats the higher flat damage weapon.

Thanks! Its my choice as well but I just wanted confirmation.

Not always. For forcewave I’d take flat damage over conversion if you have the justcar gloves

The conversion results in more flat damage than the higher flat gave. 80-100 vs 84-95, very minor so %Fire boost should push it over the edge. DPS check also agrees

Again. Conversion doesn’t have a bearing on that since the gloves full convert forcewave. Both of them effectively has 100% phys to fire conversion unless he somehow has non mythical gloves equipped.

Somehow the higher % damage ln the first one trumps the higher flat damage on the second, but really the most accurate way is to slap on both of them and compare. Enchanted Flint isn’t very expensive anyway

the difference is probably from the 294 damage of the enchanted flint buff

That isn’t the reason because control is being held down to exclude component effect.

I did miss the that he was using forcewave with 100% conversion already. The fire % increases all damage but flat only increases weapon damage. That must be the reason

Huh, 2 years later and this is the first time I’ve noticed this. Its just that Steam’s default screenshot is Ctrl+F12. Learn something new everyday.

I ended up doing this and the first Worldeater does trump the second. All the other sources of flat damage from gear, skills, etc seemed to have pushed it over the edge.

Many thanks for the discussion.
