forgotten gods, not forgotten anymore?

With fg expansion drawing near, and with the release of the trailer, people are
hyped and already on the edge of their seats…

this also means that people are becoming very curious about the ‘forgotten’
gods.

maybe to the point that some are unofficially become paparazzi, skulking
around ‘forgotten’ and ‘lost’ tombs, cities, ruins etc.

they’ve started investigating and generally being unpleasant
paparazzis/detectors/inquisitors skulking around the peaceful and idyllic
neighborhood of the ‘forgotten’ gods.

And lets not forget that the devs and betas have already flipped all of their
tables and dissecting them over and over to satisfy their curiosity.

at this point, the ‘forgotten’ gods probably just want to go back to their
status of being ‘forgotten’.

one of the best methods to avoid attention is by doing
mundane/normal/average/boring/repetitive/cringey/terrifying thing.
so in their minds, the ‘forgotten’ gods might be wishing to ask the dev
to change the name of the expansion to several proposed alternate name below:

Ashes of Malmouth Episode 2
Gods
Grim Dawn Holiday Expansion
Korvaak’s Open House Party (Cinematic Only!)
The 1HP Gods with No Drops
The Bad Gods
The Familiar Gods
The Gods
The Gods and the Ads
The Gods with Easily Revealed Secrets
The Gods that Fight You in Main Menu
The Gods that OHKO You (and delete your save file)
The Gods Next Door
The Gods Version Alpha
The Jumpscare Expansion (VR Only!)
The Overpowered Gods with No Drops
The Second Expansion
The Unpopular Gods

alright I’ll see myself out…

I second the Jumpscare Expansion.

what’s interesting is that some enemies are already capable of jumpscaring players.
like loxmere, or even kuba in the undergrowth (sadly that’s been patched out).

Before they added the Nemesis skull indicator, Alexander liked to announce his arrival by dropping a meteor on you while hiding in a bundle of enemies that completely obscured his model.

Thats gotta be painful for hardcore players…

jumpscare moments like these are what makes gd’s routine farming session more
interesting.

i myself love those jumpscare attacks. It makes the enemy seems more
satisfying to defeat, rather than just a massive hp sponges blocking your way
to lootz.

what about valdaran… teleporting players unexpectedly will surely keep players
on guard. It kinda feels like being hooked by pudge from dota,
but more instant and disorienting.

and that makes me wonder, why gd has no enemies that can push/pull/knockdown
players? Valdaran is the only enemy i recall that can teleport people around.
Is it because of the tq engine? I read somewhere that a tq xmax players gets
frustrated because mimer and his xmax clones keep teleporting players all the time.

Anyway, I think the ‘forgotten’ gods won’t get their wishes. people will flock to
play the 2nd expansion because of shattering mode, new dungeons, new movement
skill items, new class, transmutation and all the nice goodies all around.

after players beat the 2nd expansion, we should replace ‘forgotten’ gods with traumatised or abused gods.
That’s what their role in the order of the universe. basically they’re pinatas.

Oh yeah, it’s a thing. And can get very addictive if you are the type of person who likes to theorycraft new builds. You can spend hours trying to get that perfect drop.

Cue in medierra quote, circa 2010:

I don’t know if we’d actually allow this to happen to the player. It might be too annoying. If we did, I think it would have to be very limited and resists would certainly be in order. I think for enemies knockdown might be based on the % of their max life that you’re inflicting as damage using a skill that can cause knock-down.

As we can see, he decided that it would be too annoying.

so that’s the reason…

thats okay, we’ll just have to pretend that our characters are pushed 1mm or
knocked down on the spot everytime they’re stunned.

I vote for this.:stuck_out_tongue:
