Is there a quest to this I missed or is it kind of optional exploring area? Maybe some bounties to collect there?

Bounties and Kymon’s have a quest there if I remember correctly.

Kymon’s Chosen do have a quest there.

Otherwise maybe bounties as USER_NAME_01 said. Otherwise it’s just optional.

If you chose Death’s Vigil, they have a quest in the aetherial mines.
Kymon’s has an equivalent quest in Fort Haron.
