Hi there. I am new to this forum and please forgive me if any of my questions are already answered elsewhere.
I downloaded a pirated version of Grim Dawn for testing before buying, and the game is definitely worth the money. However before I buy the game I got a question. After my character turned lvl 30 and I entered the area north of Homestead somewhere, I started to encounter these terrible freezes and now the game freezes all the time regardless where I go. In my case the screen freezes while the ambient music continues in the background. The game does not respond but can be shut down using ctrl-alt-dlt.
Since its a pirated version you can never tell what actually causes this freeze, but if its the game itself, is this bug fixed by now? My version is v1.0.0.5 GOG.
The game is pretty much unplayable at this point.
It sounds like a problem with the crack, that happens very often. I have played GD on many different setups, including a laptop from 2011, and I must say, I did not have much technical problems.
pirated versions have their own problems, so getting hold of a legit copy will support the game and the devs. as for freezes, I also get them from time to time, not that often, more like microstutter then a real long freeze. still, the current version of the game is very stable, at least for me. So yeah, grab a legit copy of the game, it really is worth spending money on supporting the devs.
From what I know, there are lots of threads about this issue all over the net, I think I’ve seen like 100 or so on Steam alone.
It happened to me few times, but it’s very random, sometimes it doesn’t happen for weeks, sometimes it freezes like every 2 hours. They say it’s some kinda Nvidia driver crash problem or Win10 hate for DX9 games, but I have some other games and driver never crashed. It’s said that GPU underclocking may solve this issue, but it’s too ridiculous for me to do, plus it doesn’t happen too often. Worst thing is black screen itself, which requires you to hard reset your system, I would be happier just with regular CTD.
