I’m about to buy myself a copy of GD, and the game is currently discounted at GOG by 40% with the Crucible DLC at 30% off, so I would stand to get a pretty substantial savings vs. the full price at Steam.
However, I enjoy playing multiplayer and trading. While I know that the multiplayer experience isn’t really what makes this game shine, I’m worried that the GOG client will gimp my ability to find the occasional online game and/or trade.
Does anyone have any feedback about the GOG client and ability to trade and play multiplayer? Is it a wasteland, or relatively populous?
If you want to be able to play and trade with random people, then go with Steam. There are hardly any MP games amongst GoG customers. Eventually Valve and GoG might truely support cross-play.
The GOG game cannot connect to Steam players, maybe you already know that.
Most sales (90+%) are on Steam, so if MP is important to you, you are way better off buying there. It was on sale in the fall sale which ended a short time ago, so if price is an issue you might want to wait for the winter sale, can’t be that far off…
From what I’ve read so far, I think I already knew this but wanted to be sure before I dropped full price on the game and DLC. However, I’d rather pay the $30 for a more quality experience, so meet your newest Grim Dawn player, Rylocke!
