Yoink:
I’ve played Grim Dawn for a long time, but today, the developers’ brain-dead decisions have completely disgusted me—I’m uninstalling the game. To anyone thinking about getting into it, or those who just bought the DLC: run away! Don’t let yourselves get scammed like this.
The current design team (specifically Zantai) is treating the hard work and dedication of veteran players like absolute trash. Let me tell you what I’ve been through these past few days:
I poured an immense amount of time, energy, and resources into rolling “Ascendant” affixes on my gear. Then, last night, I got one-shot while fighting Mogdrogen. I checked the patch notes, and—would you look at that—the devs stabbed us in the back, completely gutting the core mechanics of these essential affixes.“War Cry,” which used to be rock-solid, has been forcibly changed to “chance to reset the cooldown of Menhir’s Will upon taking damage.” My build doesn’t even use Menhir’s Will, so this affix has effectively become worthless junk.
“Possession,” which was vital for survival, had its “damage absorption”—the best defensive layer—stripped away and replaced with a pathetic “16% increase to armor.”
Then there’s “Spectral Binding”: the constant health regeneration was slashed, replaced by a chance to reset the cooldown of “Raise the Dead.”
You call this a “redesign”? This is daylight robbery! To force-feed us the new DLC’s systems, you’ve gutted the core survivability of existing builds, leaving players with no choice but to swallow the garbage you’re shoveling.
What’s even more shameless is that you made these stealth changes, rendering all my gear useless—yet the cost to re-roll these affixes hasn’t dropped by a single cent!
Do you have any idea how expensive it is to re-roll a piece of gear? You’ve turned every single item I own into trash—where am I supposed to get the materials or the luck to re-roll everything? You’ve destroyed the “god-tier” gear I spent so much effort assembling with just a single line of code, and you aren’t offering any compensation or free resets. Are you trying to force us to keep grinding for drops from those miserable, disgusting enemies? Your arrogance is truly chilling. At its core, this is a “grind” game—the whole point is the sense of achievement that comes from finally assembling a complete build. But what’s the situation now? You spend ages grinding for the perfect affixes, only for the developers to swoop in—under the guise of “balance”—and render your character completely useless.A final word for the dev team:
I’m done slaving away for this garbage “Ascension” system. Guys, don’t waste your time or materials trying to roll these Ascension affixes; you never know when Zantai might have a sudden, arbitrary whim that turns your top-tier gear into absolute trash.Uninstalled. Leaving a negative review. Great job, Zantai—hope you manage to run this game into the ground for good, and soon.
lolwut? Checking the Public Test Patch notes etc and lo, none of this is in the notes or in the current patch. How this “individual” came up with this I doth not knowth, other that it likely involves deep, abyssal levels of derp and failure to check recent stuff.
As for the rest - oh voy, in my experience screwing around with Ascension mode, the mats needed for rerolls drop pretty well, main issue is actually iron, but that’s what the altar and potion modifiers are for. You also don’t need “perfect” rolls, you just need most of them, like total -RR% or Ascension etc uptime. But this is what happens when you fail to critically check your assumptions.
Anyhow, hope this makes you chuckle, because it’s the sanest option in the face of such derp. Right, back to distracting myself from last nights NZ based derp. Via Grim Dawn of course ![]()
